Jamuni calls out @ouhoops

I don't know...why don't you go tweet and ask him?

How about we get players that are more pissed off at their performance and work to get better instead of taking out their frustrations on fans? Especially considering you just gout out rebounded by over 20 rebounds.

But I guess that is typical of their generation...its the fans fault that they don't give effort

I thought you were omniscient.

Here are some of the posts about Jamuni McNeace in the game thread last night.

"McNeace
Clown"

"He is also one of the most obviously lazy players I’ve ever seen. He has NO motor. He is horrendous on pick and roll defense. Lon’s options in the middle are bad and worse. Lattin does at least generally try."

"Mcneace is dumb."

"Dumbest."

Those are just the ones directed at McNeace last night. I speculate that someone sent him the hyperlink to that thread.

Anyone that doesn’t think Jumani is a talented basketball player is a fool

I think behind Trae Young he is in the running for second best player on the team. Some of his blocks are sicker than You he 30 foot nothing but net shots.

If drafting on potential, I think he has about as much ch as anyone. I explain ext him to have to play overseas but if he works, I think he can play in the NBA.

Eh, he doesn't have the motor, strength, or explosiveness to play in the NBA, IMO. Dude will make a living overseas if he wants. Nothing wrong with that.

I think he's a gifted athlete, not necessarily a talented basketball player. There is a huge difference there. I actually think Manek is clearly the second most talented player on the team. He was born with some natural gifts and it appears some of the fundamentals of the game (shooting) come naturally to him. Talent and athleticism intersect, but they aren't the same thing. I don't think McNeace has much natural basketball talent. He can definitely jump high and I'll give him credit for having a knack for blocking shots that lead essentially lead to turnovers-- he doesn't just swat them in the seats.

I'm the one who had the "obviously lazy" quote about him above. It boggles my mind. The only way I'm wrong is if his instincts and/or coaching are so over the top bad that he just has no idea what he is doing and his lack of confidence manifests itself in looking lazy. There were some plays last night where I'm watching him and thinking there is no way that guy is going 100%. He isn't the only one. When McGriff got hot last night, we had NO ONE interested in guarding him. No one. There was one three where the ball swung to him slowly, but Doolittle reacted even more slowly, gave a very half-hearted effort to "run" at him before he made another one.

I think fans generally play the "heart and effort" card way too frequently. I think fans generally overrate the talent on their team and get frustrated and point to things like effort to explain away losses. But this particular teams has a very obvious issue in HOW they play. The only other time I can remember an OU team with energy this low was the Tiny Gallon/TMG season of disaster. We've had bad teams before-- Capel's first season, Lon's first season, last year's team, and I never called those teams out for laying down-- but this one deserves it. In addition to lack of talent and woeful coaching, we also don't try all that hard. Total shambles.

McNeace may think fans are bailing or being unfair. He's a player, so I get why he'd be defensive. But if you are with him and think fans are being unreasonable, I'd love to know what you've seen since mid January that has you feeling anything remotely positive about this bunch?

I saw those, and a strong argument can be made that I should have deleted the ones about being "dumb". The reason I didn't (and I'm not saying it's a good reason) was because this team has been playing so badly since late January, it's natural for the fans to vent. Although I would never refer to any player as "dumb", I've done my own share of venting. When you go from being the #4 team in the country in early January to being "on the bubble", it's unrealistic for any fan base to not be extremely disappointed...and in that disappointment comes some harsh words. That said, it was my job to make sure these posts don't get overly personal since I know from first-hand experience that players' families and friends do read these message boards.

Whoever forwarded those to Jamuni, please pass along my sincere apologies for allowing those types of posts to stay on the board.

I agree as it takes a special cat to play in the NBA.

I'm thinking Jamuni might need to focus on getting some rebounds, strength training, shooting, defense, ball handling, heart, hustle, etc.

Hey Jamuni, if you're reading this go tell your team. You guys are soft. Soft coach, soft players. You got beat last night because the other team played harder than you. Hustled, played defense, and rebounded. You know, basic basketball fundamentals? You guys tried to turn it on in the second half and made a run but bball doesn't work that way. If your team would play hard for 40 minutes and work on the basic fundamentals of basketball, you will win games. Until then, you will keep getting embarrassed on TV and have to hear all the bball critics and fans talk bad about your team.

I feel for the players in times like this. Many are trying as best as they can. None are perfect. All are flawed as people and players.

It isn't ever fun to hear critique about yourself. Part of maturing is to hear criticism and learn from it or ignore it - whichever is appropriate. I'm sure that the players are more frustrated than the fans are. I'm sure if I was 20 years old and read the things posted about our players was said about me, I'd hate it also. Some of the posts linked above were way overboard. We shouldn't ever do that as fans.

My son picked up basketball later than most. He was a good athlete that picked up parts of the game really well, but he just lacked in-game experience. He made his high school team and was a starter or 1st off the bench for his JR/SR years. He made mistakes that a more experienced player wouldn't and it was frustrating as a fan watching the game. He made mistakes, but he is my son. Watching him play this year has made me a better fan of OU basketball. There are frustrating moments because we all know the potential of this team. Mistakes are holding them back.

I lot of rambling on my part. I'm just hoping that the team is able to find their groove and play to their potential in next week's tournament.

Jamuni is a fine player.... he isn't part of the problem.

Also Muni, Make sure to tell Kruger that several of the same "fans" as the one above want Kruger fired, most of the players to be told to go elsewhere, all while saying OU is a top 20 program and top talented players should want to be here and be told how crap they are from the exact same fan base that puts 5k people in an 11k arena and lacks donations.

Oh, these same fans thought this team had final four potential after the nonconference, thought that this team would dethrone KU, etc. etc.

Oh, also, the same fans thought that the 2015/16 team should be embarrassed for getting blown out by Nova in the final four and that team was crap as well.

So yeah, make sure you tell Kruger and the rest of the players and recruits this is how several of the "Fans" feel about you guys on here.

I'll admit it's hard to be a fan of this team. I want to be a fan but the missed open three after missed open three and the poor offensive rebounding and poor defense and frankly Tre's ridiculous deep 3s just makes it hard to be a fan. The potential is there for this team to be a good team. They're getting open looks. They just don't know how to win. I have no suggestions how to change that.

We are the third best shooting team in the conference.
If we are really missing that many open 3s, it means we are making a lot of guarded threes

Now that you've rid yourself of some of your drama I would like to ask you a fair question, can everyone be placated in life?

The worst thing is apathy. I’m such a big fan it’s hard to watch because I don’t want them to lose.
