Joe C. not a happy camper

Would you like to wager on that? I would bet big money that Joe C does his job the exact same way he has in the past. Everything I have ever read suggests Joe C's strength is that he understands he is not a coach. He does not tell his coaches how to coach. He simply runs the AD.

I have a feeling Mercedes wasn't talking about on the court coaching x's and o's but more how to run a program and motivate people. That is where this team has been an utter disaster and Joe C can probably offer Coach some help there which he should more than welcome.

Darby is on Sam Houston's bench in a coaching capacity. They won the Southland Conf. regular season and play for the NCAA berth on Sat. Winners know what it takes to win. Darby is a winner.

I've had the pleasure of talking to Joe C., he is certainly frustrated by things; however, and in spite of the article, he is NOT reactionary.

Some of you are going to feel like FOOLS this time next year.

who and why?

Always appreciate your posts and opinions, but what makes you feel like OU will get in turned around next year?

No I wasnt talking x's and o's like Cheno is saying. I highly doubt Joe C is stupid enough to think he knows more about coaching basketball then someone like Capel. But again I dont doubt he will sit down with Capel and talk about the problems with kids getting arrested, lack of effort, and the overall future vision of the program.

Agree...these are all normal things ADs and coaches talk about. It's not like Joe C. is doing anything extraordinary than his normal obligations as Capel's boss.

Capel showed Darby the door. Not Joe C.

Darby had the opportunity to work with Anthony Kim as his strength and conditioning coach but recently took as assistant coaching position, not strength coach, at Sam Houston State University. We all knew that Darby had previously been a basketball coach prior to his stint at OU as a strength and conditioning coach. Darby wanted to coach again vs just being a strength and conditioning coach. He's coaching again and succeeding. Just read online that Sam won their game last night and are advancing to finals in conference tournament.

Those of us who knew Darby, knew his passion was coaching. Think it's one of the reasons he was such a great addition to our bench. He knew how to coach and was a great strength and conditioning coach as well. He knew how to relate to players. Some loved his stylel and others didn't but think we can all agree that something worked. Obviously this was a missing component this season but hoping we get it back.

Wish Darby much luck and hope he's enjoying his time as a coach again. He deserves it. Yo Yo is a great strength coach as well. Just need to give him some time and our support.
