Looks like he got a stress fracture in his spine (ouch).

From the article:

However, after Embiid met with a spinal specialist, the initial stress fracture prognosis was confirmed and he was ruled out of the Big 12 tourney and is unlikely to play the first weekend of the NCAA tournament.

I think the Big 12 tournament is going to be wide open this season. Without Embiid it is hard to even consider KU a favorite.

Oh, my! I feel bad for the kid. He's too young to be having back problems.

While this is not good news by any means, his absence will definitely improve our chances of a win if we're fortunate enough to meet KU in the tourney finals. But with him out, I'm not sure the Jayhawks can make it to the finals.

Yeah. I hope this isn't a recurring thing. Back issues can really stick with you and impact a lot of your life.

Man, that is rough. Hope that he can at least improve enough to get a nice NBA contract before it starts causing him serious problems. Good luck to the kid.

makes you wonder if he's going to possibly come back now ? back problems are never a good sign - McGary shoulda left last year.

KU fans don't seem to be fazed by this. They're all feeding at the Wiggins trough right now. Plus they want that #2 seed and a trip to St. Louis so if they lose they aren't going to care - supposedly.

If anythign might make him get out of there faster. As long as he checks out somewhat fine, someone in the top 5 won't let him slide past that. If he comes back and has more back problems, he will fall further.

McGary is the perfect example of this
