John Wall or D Rose?

Wall is an honor student. He even stayed to complete this semester after declaring for the draft and earned a 3.5 GPA.

My original response took into account that Rose's SAT scores are in question and he's been photographed flashing gang symbols. I shouldn't consider that because he's just a kid and the product of his environment which he had nothing to do with.

The 3.5 Wall earned this semester is impressive though, so instead of tearing down Rose I should just give Wall kudos.

I didn't know that about Wall. Interesting.

my draft order would be as follows:

1. Wall
2. Cousins
3. Monroe
4. Turner
5. ?????

Late first or second round sleepers = Dom Jones, Damion James, Brackins, Sanders @ VCU

Good stuff Boca. I didn't realize that about Wall either. As for Rose, he seems to keep himself pretty clean now. Maybe the NBA lifestyle/fame have helped him some. He definately was not a college type of guy....

What type of roll do you see James having in the NBA??

that impresses me about Wall.

good stuff Mainard. That type of work ethic will serve his career well.

I see Damion James as a poor mans Even Turner. He is 6'7, tough, good handles and can shoot the 3. I just don't know if he is quick enough to guard on the perimeter/wing in the NBA. If he is, then I think he will be a good player. I could see him being a Sefaloshia, with more offensive game.

I don't think it is for sure that he will develop, and that's why I say he is a sleeper. I just think he might be a good reach.

Damien James is the poverty version of Evan Turner...not poor. The two players are no where near the same caliber.

How are Damion James and Thabo Sefolosha similar? You say that you don't know if James is quick enough to guard on the perimeter in the NBA, yet you compare him to Sefolosha, an athletic SG who wouldn't even be in the NBA if not for his suffocating perimeter defense? James is an undersized PF who is better suited for banging inside rather than guarding the other team's best wing scorer every night, as Sefolosha does.

This. Damion James doesn't have Turner's mid-range game, ballhandling ability, or ability to run an offense and create like Turner does.

Smash, I didn't mean that they are similar players now, just that they are both 6'7 and strongly built. Thabo has made it in the league at that size and build, and so it is possible. I agree he is undersized for the 4, and so he will either be quick enough to play the wing or won't make it in the league. Tall wing defenders are valuable in the league, as they give you a chance to play with the teams that have a Lebron, Kobe, McGrady, Durant, etc, e.g. the tall perimeter wing scorers. Otherwise, these guys just kill you. Thabo gave us a chance against those guys. I have no idea whether DJ would even attempt to be such a wing defender or whether he is quick enough to be one, but it if so, he has the size and build to be good at it and the offensive game to help out as well. Don't really have an opinion of his mid range game or lack of one, just haven't paid enough attention.

The point of my statement was just that his body fits the mold and that he can shoot the ball, so he might be a sleeper that could get picked up late.
