We can agree he’s been bad the last few games, right? Early in the year I thought he was aggressive and we would sometimes even increase the lead with Trae resting.
But now he really only plays 4-5 minutes that Trae sits and the offense looks lost with Shep running the show .
We need to figure something out with Trae sitting. He can’t play 36+ minutes every game

You're right; he can't. Jordan does not seem to have any confidence right now. I think he's pressing because he knows if something doesn't happen quickly when he's on the floor, he gets pulled. Some of that is on Lon, but we have to hope he snaps out of it soon. We really need a contribution from him so that Trae doesn't run out of gas by mid-February.

Why can't Trae play 36 minutes every game? Isn't he going to play 80+ games in the NBA next season?

Didn't Mookie play 36+ minutes?

Looking to the future, if Trae is in fact going pro next year like everyone on this board is absolutely sure of... yep Shepherd needs to improve ALOT.

No, he needs to snap out of his slump. The fact that he's not playing terribly well right now doesn't negate how well he's played most of the season.

I wouldn’t worry about TY’s minutes. We have him most likely for one year. He’s a teenager. They play twice a week. I think he can handle big minutes. If a game comes along where there is an opportunity to get him extra rest, then great. But most nights I think 35-37 minutes should be his standard.

Oh, stop being such a sensitive ole bitty. He's a nice player but needs to improve. I think he and the coaches would say the same thing.

He had a very good Memphis game last year and another one I can't remember. He has tremendous potential.

Every player on the team needs to improve, including Shepherd. But it hasn't been very long at all that the general consensus was that he has improved A LOT. It's just a rough patch for him right now.

Well, he's a tremendous athlete. Hope he gets a few more minutes second half of the year.

By the way did anyone see McGusty line that guy up and work him over with his handles? Never seen that out of Kam before. Maybe he could back up PG next year some...

I have a bad feeling next year could be like last year if Trae does indeed head to the draft...which I believe he will.

At least we have Harmon coming in the year after!!!!!!

I don't think Shep has fallen off that much. What can you do in 4-5 minutes spread over a game. And probably pressing a bit. He is a victim of Trae getting a lot of minutes and Doolittle return cutting down some of his wing time. I know Doolittle is more of a four but him getting more minutes is probably pushing Manek on the wing more.

I know, I have that same feeling and that's what i'm wanting to avoid!

It will be the same players, but they'll be juniors & seniors as opposed to freshmen & sophomores. Then add Manek, Bienemy, & possibly Khavon Moore and I think you have a bubble tourney team at least.

I dont think anyone should be concerned about this at all.... His role has diminished because the best player in the country signed on in front of him. Psychologically he lacks incentive, pressure, drive, responsibility, etc. It's hard to not get that way in this situation.

Imagine if you worked for a company, and they relied on you heavily in 2016... Then hired some hot shot out of MIT and that person absorbed basically all of your responsibilities, but you were retained and paid the exact same. The amount of work you are responsible for dropped off 90%... and with the 10% you are still responsible for it's basically filing papers and handling mundane chores for the hot shot. How much drive, incentive, etc do you have at that point?

He will be a good player next year, I am certain of it.

Shepherd hasn't played well but it's tough with limited minutes.

He's a better player than he's showed.

Shepherd doesn't look for his shot hardly at all as he's more than happy with other players taking the shots. He has a very nice free throw shot and he could put it to good use in various ways.

I guess 36 minutes isn't awful, but I'd be worried about it on those Saturday/Monday turnarounds if he plays 38 one game and then has to play a bunch the next.
And even if he is fine playing so many every single game, it'd be nice not to be awful in the 4 minutes Trae's off.
Next year is where I'm concerned too. I'd rather avoid a season like last season.
