Josh Pastner makes $880k a year

Its at least 22 months, he's been there 2 years now.

Ahh, ok, 22 months of experience. Not enough for OU.

Same problems remain whether its 10 months or 22 months. No identity, no track record, no experience, no nothin. The guy has proven he can con players to play for whatever school he represents, thats it.

I really don't see any comparison to Jeff Capel other than the fact that they are both young.

We need somebody who can outcoach the coaches in this league and win with lesser talent in the event we can't recruit with the big boys.

And who are we talking about that can do that? I don't see any names left, if Buzz is gone. I thought BCG could do that. I thought Buzz might be able to do that. Kruger? Stallings? Terry Evans? Please, those guys aren't going to out-coach anybody in the Big 12, consistently.

Capel was hired because he was supposedly able to recruit. He couldn't coach a lick so we see what that recruiting did for us.

We need someone who can coach up the talent we have and win with less than 5 star talent because most stars aren't coming to Norman to play in front of 5K fans.

Jeff Capel when he was hired hadn't come close to demonstrating an ability to recruit the way Josh Pastner already has.

Except you say the problem with Jeff Capel was that he recruited 3 McDonald's All-Americans. Ooookay.

Kruger and Stallings do more with less talent than Josh Pastner ever has and more than Buzz Williams.

We need someone who can coach the kids and win when the shots aren't falling. Not someone who brings in a bunch of studs and says "go play". Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt.

He also didnt work for a basketball powerhouse (Arizona).

True. However, why was he hired? Was it because they thought he was the next coming of John Wooden? Or because they thought he could recruit?

Please list the recruits and their credentials for Pastner and pre-OU Capel. You will be shocked at the difference.

Right. Josh Pastner has been around major college basketball programs his entire career and has learned from the best.

Ax to grind much?

Calipari didn't do Josh any favors when he left Memphis.

The problem wasn't that Jeff recruited 3 burger boys, well, it was a problem because he did very little checking of their character or background, or just flat chose to ignore it.

Pastner is going to do the same thing. Try to recruit as much talent as possible and try to beat teams with talent as opposed to outcoaching them a'la Kelvin Sampson/Lon Kruger/Kevin Stallings/BCG etc.

Then what is he going to do when the burger boys he recruits don't like playing in front of an empty LNC 15 times a year?

You hear recruiting and coaching, come on. If you recruit really good players and makes coaching look outstanding. Now that being said, they have to recruit really good "character" players and not THUGS! Just my two cents worth.

Josh Pastner would use OU as a stepping stone. Hire Terry Evans and let's move on. This program is going to struggle for a couple of years regardless of who is hired at this point. Bring in someone who wants to be here and would be excited, bring in an exciting brand of basketball, and I bet would bring in top JUCO talent to set the foundation of the return to be a solid program!

Terry Evans CHECK!

Memphis players have to be used to playing in front of small crowds. Like every time they play a conference game on the road.

My point is that Jeff Capel himself proved that elite players WILL come to Oklahoma under the right circumstances.

LOL. How do you know this? Are you saying you are actively opposed to the idea of recruiting elite players? As long as he understands the importance of glue guys, it's fine. Jeff Capel did not (or was unable to find them), as he alluded to in his own emails.

Pastner is 10x the recruiter that Capel is/was. Pastner won't have to go after the Burger Boys that have known issues. He'll actually be able to recruit some that are solid players, AND people. And his bench players, or secondary players? They'll serve a purpose. They'll be athletic, and they'll fit his system. They will play hard. And while I'm not crazy about an up-tempo, pressure style (not my cup of tea), I'd rather have that then to bring in some coach who's UPSIDE is a consistent 4-6th place finish, and early outing in the tournament.
