Thats the comparison I have heard from some high school coaches.

Looks like he has a little more length and athleticism to me. David looked to be a little stronger and more physical IMO.

shouldn't you always offer the local good player if at all possible? SO many benefits...and if he can actually play then it's a win all the way around.

They're different builds but their roles at OU would be similar.

how is that different?? anytime you offer a local kid there is extra pressure especially if the kid cant get on the floor.. That just simple stuff right there. Your lame

"your" Should be "you're"... FYI

Har**** was offered and committed at a 9th or 10th grader. He didnt grow, blew out a knee or two, got lazy and didnt work hard anymore.

Richardson is a Sr. recruited by other D1 schools, (har**** wasn't), he has upside, kyle didnt...

I agree with this for the most part. However, it's also a numbers game. OU really needs another big right now. If coach thinks he can find a big that can help us right away then we must go that route. If not, then we should get the local talent.

I won't disagree with that. IMO if someone is too big a stretch then Richardson gets the nod...it may be a numbers game, but you also hafta do a costs/benefits analysis on each player you sign because they don't all make it obviously.

I agree with what greenbug says at the top. However I would add, much better player than David.

A MUCH better player than David Godbold puts you in the Ebi Ere, Mike Neal (pre injury), Terrell Everett category.

If Josh Richardson is as good as those guys, he would be the steal of the century.

I'm like big, if he is better than Godbolt then take him for sure. I'd take another godbolt.

In any event, I am in agreement that we need another point guard, provided he has good ball handling skills. And I assume we offered Grooms because he has ball handling skills that Blair and Newell don't. Otherwise, I don't see the need for just another average juco guard. We could get by with Blair and newell. Now, if he has good D-1 handles, then he brings something to the table we don't have. At present, we don't have anyone on our team that can dribble. It is a little hard to play in the Big 12 with this deficiency, as we saw this year.

I also agree we need a good "big", but agree with this if he a good big. We actually have good post "numbers" on the team. Fitz, Neal, Osby, Thompson, CJ and Honore can all play in the post.

However, if we can't get another "good" big, with some real size, then I say our biggest need, outside of a point with handles, is a midsize wing with enough lateral quicks to properly defend the wing. We have pledger and Cam, but otherwise, we have to go small (newell) or big with less than necessary lateral quick to guard the wing on the perimeter (neal or osby). We had a h-ll of a time guarding the Olukemis, burks, hamiltons, etc this year. We were either too small or too slow. So, if Richardson has the lateral quicks to guard the wing sized perimeter players and is really 6'5 or taller, then I say we can use that. Arguably, Pledger isn't quick enough, I know some argue this fact. So, we only have either 1 or at most 2 that can properly defend man to man good size wings and I say we can use another one.

So, I don't know if we should sign Richardson ((haven't seen him) but if he fits the above profile, then I say sign him unless we can get a really tall and quality big that would play ahead of the several that we currently have.

The expectations on this board must have really fallen with the way you are talking about David Godbold. I'm not saying he was not worth a scholarship, but he was a borderline starter for the Big 12.

David Godbold was a good player and he MORE than pulled his own weight. So talking trash about him is really unnecessary.

I was not intending to trash Godbold - he was a solid player for us.
