Are the juco kids pursued much these days? Nwankwo was juco no? I have a Norse Star daughter this year and have been able to watch all of the home games and they have a tremendously talented squad. Connors State beat them last night. Their tournament is in Muskogee in a week or so. It will be a good one. I know there are four good teams. NEO has a few kids that are pretty highly ranked with their first guy being Buddy Hammer from just down the road Westville, OK. They have a shooting guard that is a real good shooter. Demarrio Vann-Kelly is his name. The player that intrigues me the most is Chris Mason, from Victory Christian. 6'7" 250. He has gained 35 pounds since graduation ladt year. He looks like an elite TE. I spoke with his dad earlier this season about him. Was suprised he wasn't playing football somewhere. He said OSU invited him to walk on at TE. He aslo had a offer to Buffalo and it was pulled because of injury to a guard and they needed another guard. His hands and frame is what sets him apart. What I like about this team is that if they see the rim they dunk it. NEO Roster

Connors State is really good. They have a 5'10" kid from DC that is quick as a cat and dribbles like a Globetrotter. Dormu bio I think their best shot to make it next level is their shooting guard. 6'5" out of Omaha. 38% from 3 and he was 6 out of 8 last night, if I remember correctly. Kevin Stubblefield Jr. is his name. Stubblefield bio
If you get a chance to go watch their tournament and enjoy a fast pace game go watch NEO play. You won't be dissapointed in the pace and effort you will see.

If ABD is still alive, this is the thread to smoke him out lol

Oh Gosh. I forgot all about him. Has he not made an appearance in quite a while? And who was his second most loved team again? Was it Tech? Tulsa?
Rotated.

Ironically it was tech for a handful of years, but then he got off their bandwagon for the season they actually made the natty lolol. Poor guy

abd was/is a great poster who stuck to his guns. Nothing aggravated him more than seeing JUCO players who made their hay close to Norman go off to contribute elsewhere. abd was attacked and mocked often for his takes, but I found his posts informative, and you could tell he put in a lot of time researching his topics and posts. You could probably guess which posters ultimately drove him away and he stopped posting a year or so ago. Maybe even longer than that. He and I have exchanged e-mails through the years and I found him to be a great guy. We met whilst posting on the old OUInsider board in 2003!

Oh I have a list of those posters that made me feel so loved long ago. Then some newer ones. Good to see you 04!!

Also, the kid from Victory, Mason, is years more talented and skilled than about 10 bigs I can remember the past 20 years. He is a tad short but Ernie says give him a chance. You surely know whic Ernie I am talking about. lol

Prep schools and NCAA free transfer rules have pretty much eliminated JUCO as a route for P4/P5 D1 prospects.

If a kid needs development, he'll go to an extra year of HS (prep school) or go to a DII school or small DI and transfer. JUCO schools have become more like single A baseball, where very few who go that route make the jump all the way to major D1/P4 basketball.

That is kinda what I figured until i was able to watch them this year. Who knows about their educational prowess but talent wise, I see a player in almost every D1 game that do not have the skills some of these do. I am telling you I think there are 4 or 5 players from NEO that could honestly help a program. Not just fill a roster spot. Their frosh PG is as good as quite a few and the PG from Connors could honestly make someone better day one. You can't teach his kind of speed.
