Someone end this nightmare (except it's a dream for Coolm).

At least everyone who played the last 8 games comes back barring no transfers and we add Trae and a pair of four stars.

Next year Lon needs to tell Khadeem that if he pulls up outside of 10 feet on the baseline that he's done for the rest of that game. Dude shoots like 2% from that range.

Oh well, bright side is no stress during March Madness can just root for whomever.

This reminds me of the old joke about K-State in football before Bill Snyder arrived in Manhattan. The joke was, "the good news is K-State has 21 of 22 starters back next year. The bad news is K-State has 21 of 22 starters back next year". Based on what we saw tonight, that might be the case with this OU bunch of "basketball" players.

John Blake" it might not show on the field or scoreboard but we a good football team"

lol the same thing.

Lattin had 18 tonight. If people are going to start passing blame for tonight's loss, we're going to start with Lattin? No Sooner is more unfairly maligned on this board than Lattin.

They'll be much better, assuming most of them stay and work on their game. We need the guards to develop a better outside game and some ball handling skills to drive and kick. Bigs need a little work on post defense; McNeace has a good low post game, just keep getting better at it and he could be a 8-10 ppg guy.

Our FT defense is improving at the least. Would have been nice to keep em under 60% from the field though until the end.

100% correct ... he is also the best defender on the team ... and he is so far ahead of mcnease on D it is not even funny

And rebounding.

I don't blame Lattin for the record this year, but his basketball IQ is very low and thus his shot selection is poor. However, when he's dialed-in on defense and rebounding he's very effective even if he's not shooting.

McNeace really has no clue about defense or rebounding. If he's not scoring he needs to be on the bench until he learns how to play defense and rebound. He has all kinds of potential offensively but he's deficient everywhere else.

i agree with most of this .. I actually think lattin takes pretty good shots for the most part ..

mcnease is so bad against the pick and roll it is comedy

I was a little POed because we had been playing much better of late.....but last night, they didn't have it. I don't like being run off the court by an 8th place Big 12 team, thus I'm glad it's over.

Having said that, I'm hoping that Trae is as good as everyone says he is because this team is lacking a "clutch" type of player. I'm hoping he will be the savoir because I don't know how many more of these types of seasons that I could handle. Lord knows that we had to sit through enough of those during Capel's tenure.

Since OU and Tulsa are out, I will be rooting for North Carolina....I always liked Roy Williams.

As we all know, a lot can change with a quality point guard. With TY at the point and a year of maturity under the belt of Mcgusty, Doolittle, and Shepherd, next years team can be significantly better. I wish James could locate himself, but, who knows with him at this point. Also see signs of Lattin being ready to max out his game for his senior year. The 2 big body recruits inside can do nothing but help on the defensive end as well.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but they need to prove it next season. What I really want to see from this team next year is a significant improvement in decision-making and court awareness (i.e. basketball IQ). Simply put, there were far too many times this season that poor decision-making down the stretch continually cost this team late leads. As much as everyone wants to see these guys physically improve their game, I hope that just as much (or more) effort is put into learning and absorbing the mental aspects of the game where they are woefully deficient as of now.

Solid post!

I would also add Odomes to your list of the players who I expect to be much improved next year. I realize his stats from behind the arc this season make me look like a doofus when I remind everyone he was a 50% shooter from three in high school. I don't know why he was reluctant to take open shots from the perimeter this season? But he is definitely capable of making them. If he works to expand his game in the off season the way he did last summer, he could be a tough match up for OU's opponents next fall.
