with 81 after last night he now is tied for 10th all time in blocks at OU (spangler is also tied at 10th along with helicopter bell and jabahri brown)

lattin has a shot to move all the way up to #4 all time (Ryan Humphrey 114) by the end of this season .. which is pretty amazing ..

and 1 2 and 3 are in reach if he stays 4 years .. Al Beal 230 Stacey King 228 and Wayman 209

He's 14th nationally in blocks per game. Also averaging 4.25 blocks per game in Big 12 play. That is pretty ridiculous. Now if we could just offensive rebound, we would be unstoppable.

I think the record is way more than in reach. If he reaches 114 I think that means he got 83 blocks this year. If he does 83 a year, the next two years, he will crush the record at OU.

Plus his blocks have gone way up in conference play. As stated above he is averaging 4.25 blocks per game in Big XII play. It is not unreasonable to think he might block 120 shots each of the next two years.

also the single season OU blocks record is 103 (Stacey King 88) with second and 3rd all time being 85 and 82 .. .

lattin is at 50 and trending up ... OU has 20 more games possible ..

Lattin seems to be more of a pure shot blocker than I remember the others being. Tisdale, Beal, and King blocked shots. But, I don't think it was their focus. Lattin seems to have more focus on blocking shots and defense than on offense.

Assuming he stays next year and stays healthy, he'll get the record by end of next season. He's a 3+ bpg guy now that he is playing normal starters minutes.

Lattin's timing is amazing!

He has a knack for waiting until the offensive player has committed to the attempt before he uses his length and hops to go straight up and block the shot. It also helps that he blocks most of the shots with his left hand. That's a huge advantage since the majority of players he faces are right handed.

just the fact he does and can do it means he alters a lot of shots or choices by the opponent...whether or not to go all the way to the rim or not. Extra bonus there...

I'd like him to learn to try and keep more "in bounds". He did a great job last night of that. Big swats are fun but a block to keep in in-bounds is a bonus!
