Khadeem Latting just keeps his game simple

If be plays defense, rebounds, and blocks a shot or two, then I'm happy. I don't like seeing him take 15 foot jump shots……. I'm OK with a put back or something in the 5-foot range.

He got 14 minutes last Saturday and Bennett got no minutes. I guess we know the pecking order.

I love this quote from Lattin: “We’ve got all the scoring talent in the world,” Lattin said. “He (Sooners coach Lon Kruger) just really needed someone to really just pick us up. He needed an energy guy. He needed a guy that was going to be gritty on defense and just be hard-nosed. That’s what he’s always expected from me. Now, I’m delivering. I want to continue to get better with coach. It needs to be a process, and I’m looking forward to it.”

He is a guy with enormous upside, but right now he is working on fitting in to the system. What more could you ask for?

I actually want him to take that shot but only when OU is comfortably winning the game. When the game is on the line, he is about my 8th option on those 15 footers. With that said, I suspect he will be a much higher option before his time is up.

To me this year is all about getting comfortable and contributing as best as possible for Lattin. Seeing that ball go through the hoop a few times is good.

This right here. He doesn't need to be taking those jump shots just because he is open. He is the 5th option on offense when he is on the floor. If he wants to dunk or put back a layup after a rebound, then I'm fine with it. Otherwise, he needs to pass up the 15 footer and get it to one of our scorers because it becomes another empty possession. If we are up big, then I would be a little more welcoming to have him shoot. But lately, his shots aren't even freaking close to going in.....so pass it up.

i LOVE what he's doing. He comes in all enthusiastic, charges hard, jumps high, and let's it all go. He'll be seasoned and experienced as we ask more and more of him and he will get to develop his game more.

I think the coaches tell him he has 5 fouls to give and not to worry about it. Just put your hands in everywhere you can. He blocks a ton but also get his fingers on a lot of passes and causes a lot of disruption. You can see some dexterity every once in a while. Put some weight on him and lets see what he looks like next year. He is going to be one of the main pieces over the next few years.

Nice analysis of Khadeem's contribution to the team now and in the future.

While I would like to see him pass on the fifteen footers he puts up until he gets a feel for the game, one has to believe he makes those shots in practice, otherwise LK would not give him the green light to take them. All in all, though, I love Khadeem's game. He has such a huge upside, I get excited just thinking about what he could be a year or two from now

Exactly! He's going to be a GOOD one!
