Among other things I want:
1.Baylor will have more talent, texass will probably have more talent but the great equalizer is defense..Work, work work on in in preseason and at every practice. Make people dread to play us.
2.The Year of the Maddie. We have a really good point, a really good shooter, an adequate center so we need the Disrupter, the Undefendable, the Do-It-all athlete. She comes into her own next year.
3.The Enforcer. EJ learns quickly to make opposing players give her room lest she pulverize them. They let her have the rebounds because the cost of opposing her is too high.

That's not much, is it???

I think you are right on the money. Hard work to improve defense and rebounding would do wonders for this team.

I like Maddie but the jury is still out on whether she is going to make an impact on this team. I sure hope she does but so far she has not come close to reaching what most see as her full potential. I would love to see that change this fall as we are certainly going to need her.

I want us to work on:
First on defense, then work on defense, and then work on defense and rebounding. Add when ready a full dose of "move without the ball on offense".
We have such possibilities, no big weakness, good depth with lots of different players that could step up as all conference type, or sterling reserves. But we CANNOT win big time with our players unless we play better defense ALL the time.

It may prove hard to defend any harder since we already have serious fouling problems.

If we had ended up with a better overall record (i.e. a better non-conference record) we would have likely gotten a better seed, a home court seed, and an easier path into the Sweet 16.

This team was unlikely to get much past there, so that may give some insight into what we should hope for next year.

There are teams that play styfiling defense with few fouls. That's a mystery to me, but I wish for that every day during the season and for weeks afterward until the next fall's preperation.

I think they have conditioned the officials to the fact that they are great defensive teams that don't foul. I have thought that since the old Boston Celtics began to dominate pro basketball years ago, and they fouled. A&M fouls. They just don't get called. Reputation and conditioning of the public and officials. Used to, A&M would get eliminated early because they hadn't conditioned the national officials.

^^^ True. That and "influence" fouls drive me nuts. Fouls called merely on form.
