Per some reports on Twitter, he has apparently narrowed his list down to Dayton, Oklahoma, UConn, Virginia Tech and Xavier.

No word yet on if a visit has been set up. Signing day begins on April 11.

Re: Update on New York guard Isaiah Cousins

Update: Per a report on twitter, Kruger and assistant Lew Hill were in New York again today watching Cousins. Looks like Cousins is someone they are really targeting at this point. That's two trips in two weeks for Kruger to New York to see him.

Re: Update on New York guard Isaiah Cousins

So how happy would we be with Cousins and Korchek filling those last two spots?

Looks like he is coming for an official visit on Monday the 26th.

Yep. Looks like the NYC Rivals site is reporting it. Article says he's down to Dayton, Xavier, UConn, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Virginia Tech. OU is his first scheduled visit. No others have been set yet.

For those on twitter, this guy has the best info on Cousins and is worth a follow:

Hopefully Cousins commits after he visits.

I'm going to be biased and optimistic and say this is a very good sign. Hope he doesn't book any others soon in the near future and is just making sure OU is where he wants to go. I think he will like our depth chart.

Rivals article up:
The defending champs the Mount Vernon Knights are once again headed to Albany this weekend seeking their second straight Federation State title.

Although the Mt. Vernon Knights are focused on a game winning repeat senior Isaiah Cousins has decided to trim his lengthy school list in preparation for his official visits. This weekend he was also named Section 1's Mr. Basketball. This marks the sixth year in a row a Knight was named.

The guard's official school was, Hofstra, Iona, Dayton, Manhattan, South Carolina, UConn Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Xavier.

Mount Vernon assist coach Patrick Theodule has confirmed he has trimmed his school list to, "Dayton, Xavier, UConn, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Virginia Tech."

On Sunday, at the Times Union Center at 2pm the Knights will face the winner of Boys & Girls/St. Raymonds game for the their final game.

Cousins will take his first official visit to OKC on Monday. Other official visits will be determined afterwards.

I like that he will plan on setting up other stuff afterwards. Hopefully we can just convince him he will be able to play right away here if he puts in work.

If this is in another thread I apologize, but can someone give a rundown of cousins game? I'm curious why we're after him so hard with Heild and Hornbeak coming in next year. Shouldn't there be more focus on kids like Phillip Nolan, Korcheck or available bigs?

Another article on Twitter from state tourny:

Boys State Tournament Notebook (Day Two): Cousins the newest part of hierarchy

GLENS FALLS -- With 2011 Class AA state Player of the Year Jabarie Hinds now a freshman on the West Virginia men’s basketball team, Mount Vernon found itself looking for its next leader.

This year’s team doesn’t have as big a superstar, perhaps, but head coach Bob Cimmino made it clear: “There is a hierarchy,” Cimmino said.

And leading the hierarchy is 6-foot-4 senior point guard Isaiah Cousins.

Mount Vernon’s semifinal win over CBA wasn’t the best game for Cousins, averaging 16 points per game, as he finished with only six points. But he had seven assists and three steals.

“He didn’t shoot well, but he’s elevated his game so much,” said Cimmino, who added it felt like Cousins had “a dozen” assists.

He also sports the Tony Crocker long sleeves on occasion:

My guess - and it is purely a guess - is that maybe he can project to play some point? Because we absolutely need PG depth. Not only would it be nice to have a backup to push Blair for minutes but we lose both PG's after next season.

Anyhow, I'd like to see a rundown of his game as well.

All these visits to NYC, and Coach Kruger has yet to give me a call to meet for a beer.

He is a point guard and we need one. If a point is good enough they could play ahead of Sam but I doubt that will happen.

i've seen him listed as both a point and combo guard.
and that's he would be a really good get. hope he has a great visit to OU and we can get him. Isn't Hornbeak a combo that could also play PG?

I haven't seen anything official that calls him a point guard. And I've seen very little that calls him a combo-guard, though that is probably a decent description.

ESPN calls him a versatile swingman with good size and a strong wing. That doesn't sound like a pg to me. I'm guessing Hornbeak is much more of a pg option then Cousins. ESPN also says that Cousins needs to improve his handles. Might be an old scouting report since Cousins has just "come on" in the last few months, but I actually like both Hield and Hornbeak to contribute more next year.
