Lon just confirmed in an interview that Lazenby is redshirting, and all but confirmed that the plan is for Kuath to redshirt because of the back injury. Said it is a long term rehab for his back. On the bright side, he said Muni came out of Saturday fine and is now close to 100%.

Lazenby is redshirting to preserve the final year of eligibility. He'll then be able to grad-transfer if he wants to...which seems likely.

was I just dreaming that lazenby was transferring?

I imagine he is at the least considering it, but it sounds like he is also thinking of staying and playing next year after we graduate the other 5 seniors. Lon said something along the lines of "it makes sense with the numbers we have this season."

That seems fine, he can probably contribute a bit off the bench next year.

Sorry, but not sure I've ever seen a coach let a player that will likely contribute little if anything as far as meaningful game minutes are concerned, when they only have 1 year of eligibility left.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't do the grad transfer deal...otherwise we're just tying up a scholarship...unless it isn't going to used anyway.

Lon is a very smart man, and a fine gentleman to boot. He treats his players with respect. One way or the other, I am guessing that this will work out just fine, for all parties involved.

Yep. Sometimes the player in question brings leadership and experience to the equation. I'm reminded of the player Lon asked to stay a couple of years ago -- I think he was a walk-on, but perhaps he was an end of the bench scholarship guy (I know, I know -- what's the point of bringing up a guy as an example if you can't remember any of his details?).

Anyway, Lon asked him to return largely for his leadership, or so I understood it at the time.

CJ Cole?

My guess is he transfers to an Oklahoma D2 and excels next year.
