So how is he such a great defender yet goes 254 minutes without committing a foul? Doesn't that seem odd to you? That is one of the craziest stats out there.

That's how great he is... he doesnt foul AND plays great defense.

i just find it hard to believe that you can be a great defender and rarely foul

What is so difficult to understand about it? Yes, the streak is a little ridiculous because it's basically impossible to never foul in that long of a period, and it's indicative of the preferential treatment that stars get. But it's also indicative of the fact that LeBron rarely does foul. He is absolutely ridiculous.

usually a good defender is aggressive and takes chances, always fighting through screens, making contact, etc.

For example, thabo is a pretty good defensive player. he has two fouls a game only playing 28 minutes. Westbrook is a good onball defender.. he averages nearly 3 a game

Give me a break with this... Thabo is a better defender than lebron yet he gets fouls called on him...

I'm just hoping that the thunder will do whatever they need to do so that the NBA will decide it's their turn in the finals.

LeBron is a much, much better defender than Thabo.

No one is a better defender than LeBron.
He can let his muscles play defense while his body just hangs back and observes.
No ref has ever called a foul on muscles alone. That's LeBron's secret.
LeBron is so strong, he can grab Snoop Dog by the scruff of his neck and then stretch him into a 6'10 guy we like to call Chris Bosh.
He sometimes forgets to stretch Snoop's arms. That's why occasionally Chris Bosh will look a little short armed... like a Raptor.

LOL @ Thabo who is not even all NBA being compared to the best defender on ball defender in the league.

If Thabo was guarding Lebron he would shoot layups at will. If Lebron was guarding Thabo he wouldn't be able to get the ball past mid court. The difference is infinity.

Lol at your comparison. That has nothing to do with the discussion

So how did a great defender like Wilt never foul out of a game?

Thabo isn't a better defender than LeBron.

The streak was a little ridiculous, but so is something Steve Novak shooting 80% from three over a similar span last year...weird stuff happens. Look at their schedule over those games, how many "elite" scorers has Lebron had to guard? How many minutes were logged? They played a lot of sub par teams with their only loss coming against Golden State. Once he had to guard an elite player in Durant, he picked up a few fouls.

LBJ has averaged less than two fouls a game for his career, he is around 1.5/game this season alone. He is an elite defender and most likely the best in the league. His athleticism and lateral movement are off the charts and when he does get beat, never picks up a cheap one. Generally lets his bigs clean up the play or pick up the foul.

Thabo isn't on LBJ's level, not even close.
