Guys this is the worst coaching job Lon has done since he has been at OU, I believe he made a deal to get Trae and no matter what he is going to honor that deal.

:OUbball-logo:Trae Young is a hot dog, he gives off an attitude that he is the team, he makes way to many mistake for a play with talent but when you have an attitude that "I'm the man" then you do what you want. We lost tonight because of mistakes, Trae made way to many trying to be Mr. Hot Dog, I for one hope he goes to the NBA so that OU will get back to being a TEAM and Lon gets back to being the coach we all know he is and should be.

Dumb. Leads the nation in assists. Sometimes he's too unselfish.. team isn't very talented. coaching is below average
 
It appears Trey has hit the freshman wall. Three out of the last four games, very poor 3 point shooting. We probably win all three if he hits has average percentage. We just have to hope he pulls out of it.

Good news is James is playing very well and McGusty had his best game in a long while.

Russell Westbrook is proof leading in assists means nothing. He is very selfish, and does not trust his teammate. OU might not make the tournament, and it is on Lon. Who knows when OU will realize they can do better. But they cam, and need to.
 
Been saying most of season, Mcgusty really hasn’t had a chance, got to get him in a groove, needs more minutes

Lon has been bad the last month. From my view, he doesn't demand enough out of this team. Guys continually make the same mistakes and there appear to be no consequences....just clapping. And I don't know what the hell they are doing in practice (with regard to drills) to guard the PnR, close out on shooters, and keep their man in front of them. This is the worst defensive OU team that I can recall.

Maybe you, soonermarty, oketex, et al should just watch Hoosiers on repeat instead of watching ou/okc anymore this year.

Agree.

I made my concerns known before the off season about trae coming off as a savior and too big for his britches

Team isn’t talented yet he leads the nation in assists? Hmm....

Trae has been bad. He looks to be causing issues. The chemistry looks bad. Coaching has been bad

The only thing Lon needs to do is have Trae rein in the loooong 3s, because he's terrible at them. Otherwise, you want the best player on your team doing things.
 
Trae is an awesome ball player and well beyond his years in talent but still wet behind the ears in experience. LK has obviously not had an impact on him for some reason. These losses have all been similar with him trying to take over every game down the stretch and no patience to work for good shots. He can have such a positive impact just from that threat if he will ever realize it.

Some have said they want him to do this. I just disagree. I want the ball in his hands but I want him thinking team ball. If we lose because Kam or CJ or Manek miss open shots I can live with that. I would also love to see us run some plays for TY down the stretch but the quick 3s while guarded and the 1 on 4 drives are getting old. Refs are swallowing whistles but that is basketball.

I don’t know if our D is good enough anyway but I am tired of watching us play this way down the stretch in tight games.

That's a testament to the reads and how much attention trae draws.. this isn't that complicated..
