Louisville self-imposes postseason ban

I understand that it's not fair for this year's players. What alternative would you offer?

Fine and Suspened the Coach, AD, any other in the Athletic department. But let the kids keep playing and play in the NCAA tournament if they are good enough to get a bid. If more Administrators where hammered for what their coaches do then It would slow it down some IMO

Is Andre McGee still coaching somewhere?

Think about it, though. Even if you suspend the coach, AD and university president, the school would still benefit greatly if allowed to play in the postseason, especially if the team made an extended run in the NCAAs. In truth, Louisville probably deserves an even tougher penalty.

This is good news for us. Their size would have been an issue.

Yup fire the adults responsible and let the students play. Ridiculous they punish students not even involved in the incident

Except if it's systematic, as it is at Louisville, there's a good chance these kids are on campus because of something similar. I don't agree that the entire program shouldn't be punished. I think they should.

Include any money the team would make from the Tourney run in the fine. Take part of their merch revenue for a number of years. There are ways to punish the program, but still let the kids that didn't have anything to do with it play ball. If some kids on campus partook and it can be proved then suspend those players.

It is awfully convenient that Louisville let this occur, denied any knowledge of it, now says it appears violations occurred and we will immediately step to the plate and miss this year's post season. This way our cheating has no impact on anyone other than the current kids on the team.

The President, AD and Coach Cheater all deny knowledge, suffer no consequences, pat themselves on the back for being great people and perhaps even accept a bonus for handling the situation so well.

If the NCAA had a brain they would laugh at schools that do this and say that is well and good but we are suspending you from the post season in 2020. Anyone that signs this year misses the NCAA tournament their senior year and everyone that is signed has an unconditional release.

Agreed. This is hugely unfair. What they could do is allow Louisville to play in the postseason this year but not next year. They could then allow the players to transfer without having to sit out. Then, the players don't get punished. Add a suspension or something for Pitino plus a fine.

It is a complete joke the way this stuff works.

I refuse to believe Pitino had no knowledge. A young coach is the fall guy, the kids serve the punishment and the adults all claim what outstanding people they are and how a few bad apples spoiled it for everyone.

This makes more sense to me, although I don't think anyone but Louisville has the power to fine coaches.

How about release all players for no penalty, no sitting out, no limiting where they could go transfers. The school they transfer to must have a scholarship and no more than one player to any school.

Sure they do. Tell the Universities put in their contracts. The fines are these amounts and if you don't do it, we fine your school ten times that much. It would get done. You always need to think outside of the box. When you start with I can't do that, you end with I can't do that. When you start with this is what I going to do, you end with it being done.

Exactly. Hammer the school and administration.
