I saw several players on both teams look like they were wearing running shoes with the ankle support some of the shoes had. Is this a new trend not to where High tops or even mid tops? I would think this risks ankle injuries.

Not really a big risk. Studies show if you havent hurt your ankle or have really weak ankles, then there should be no brace or taping of the ankle, that limits movement in the ankle which creates tons more pressure and twisitng of the Knee = ACL...

Kobe Bryant does this. he feels the low tops offer more movement and are lighter

My ankles would fly bloodily into the stands. I always sprain my ankles when playing, my worst yet came on Dec. 30. Did all sorts of re-hab and it's still not right. Yuck.
