100 years ago. Posting some college football history. Something I did not know ... Due to World War I, no games were scheduled or played for the 1918 season by LSU.

LSU uniforms for Mississippi State game pay tribute to missed season due to World War I

LSU’s uniforms for Saturday night’s game against Mississippi State are part of a special 1918 tribute. And they feature purple helmets that change colors. The No. 5 Tigers are paying homage to the lost season of that year; LSU didn’t play 100 years ago because of World War I and Saturday night’s all-white uniforms don’t have names on the back for those unknown soldiers that were lost in the war. The school has a grove of oak trees on campus that pays tribute to those who died in the war. You can see a pattern of oak leaves in the purple trim and numbers on the jerseys.
