Congratulations to the women. Big win! Who knew Simpson could be an offensive force. lol

The biggest surprise was that Simpson: 1) took shots, 2)hit them. I don't remember seeing Mandy look like she knew touch was. She was also a force on the boards.

Everyone showed up today. We didn't have anyone who wasn't a contributor. If you were a recruit and watched this team today, you would have been impressed. They passed well, moved well. So many times today they zipped a pass to someone who was open. Don't see that a lot.

LSU shot well, except from three. Finally, a team that doesn't shoot threes well, doesn't shoot them well against OU. I did think LSU looked a little lethargic on the boards. Surprising. They did beat a pretty good Michigan State team.

Western Kentucky 91
Ball State 86

A truly stunning result.
Simpson with more productivity in one game than the entire season.
The only constant is the inconsistency.

No surprises here the first three possessions in a row have been turnovers for us. LSU has scored on all possessions. Simpson has missed an open layup as well.

close the quarter out actually pretty well. Up by seven points at the end of the first quarter. This is the team that I saw the first couple games in the wnit tournament. This is a team I thought I'd see all year long. Goes to show you that we play up to our competition. We play better against better teams and horrid against lesser teams. That's got to fall back on the coaching in my opinion.

lemon is not even on the bench today, maybe she got in trouble? Anyone know anything about that?

She tweeted "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going #RIPDAD" a few days ago. I'm sure that's why she wasn't playing today.

Nice win. Hope this is a trend we stay with, especially taking care of the ball

If we get this kind of game, or even close to it, from Tatum and Mandy, we will challenge for #2 in the Big Twelve. When you make thirty turnovers, you have a confidence/flow problem. Tatum seemed to take control of the game, and we had six turnovers at the half. Nobody was trying to do the impossible----

except for Mandy. When recruited, I expected this kind of activity on the boards. But, I didn't expect her to shoot well, and she never really has. She has always been short on her shot, like she was intimidated. She and Tatum both exhibited confidence today. The turnovers from them went down, and the positive contributions went up.

It seems that everyone takes their que from the point guard. Ana, Madi, and Taylor simply did what they can do without stretching it.

Last year, we led UConn by about 15 in the fourth (?) quarter. They took over, and we crumbled. LSU tried to take over, got some key stops with their press. But, we also came down and hit some threes, and it stayed right at 17-21 points until they finally seemed to give up with about 1:30 left. We needed another dribbler out there to handle it. But, we passed well enough to avoid disaster. Big difference. Of course, there is the difference of 15 and 22-23, and LSU is not UConn.

Just play with the same level of confidence and ball security. We are better than losing to Houston and WKy. I don't know exactly how good we are (or LSU for that matter), but I don't think the Big Twelve is all that great this year.

Fluke. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Thus far, there have been four games in the Big Twelve/SEC Challenge.

There were nine games in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

All 13 games were won by the home team.

Today, there were three more Big Twelve/SEC games. The Big Twelve won all three, two of which were on the road (Texas over Tennessee, and West Virginia over Mississippi State.

Funny, After a big win, there just haven't been any posts?

It is interesting that we have a game in which most players did exactly what they were trained to do. We passed crisply with few across the court passes ending up in the opposition's hands. We shot the shots that we should make, and we made them. We blocked out and won the rebounding battle.

All of the things that have been talked about, we did. And, we beat the #25 team in the country by 22.

The silence is overwhelming.

Let's see. We'll probably beat Sam Houston easily.

Maybe there will be elevated discussion after Drake. But, they barely beat Auburn. It may take Connecticut.

I sat and watched the offense and purposely concentrated on the passes to cutters and the post making mental notes of why we make so many bad passes. The glaring mistakes come from the kids not anticipating the cutters going in the lane, or congestion in the way. Mandy, Tatum and Ana can see a cutter making the move, but they are a second too late when making a pass, causing turnovers. They did a better job against the Tigers, forgoing forced passes and making the extra easier pass to set up their shots. Sherri mentioned in her post game that instead of trying to hit home runs, hit a lot of singles. Makes sense, make the smart passes, the extra passes to set up shots instead of trying to force the home run, or more difficult passes. When they do that, and play within themselves, they become more successful. Hopefully we will see more of that in the weeks to come.

You are right. Things will probably remain quiet while SC's team beats up on that powerhouse Sam Houston State.

Something I've noticed about message boards of all kinds: The people with a bone to pick post a lot more than other people. On SoonerTimes, there is an entire thread about how the football board had a lot more traffic last year than this year. The main difference is the number of posts last year complaining about the defense. The posts about last years defense were perfectly justified. But the interesting and frustrating thing is that good defense didn't generate nearly as much conversation.

I've noticed the same phenomenon on FB in groups devoted to TV series or book series. The book or TV series might be extremely successful but the people who have something to complain about are much more likely to post than others.

All I know is at one time OU was a consistent top 10-5 team, with all Americans... how could anybody be happy with the product that is being put on on the floor, yes it’s great to beat a decent LSU team at home, but I expect us to see more let downs then exciting wins this year...

Managing expectations is the name of the game.

I expect for a team with no seniors and made up of primarily sophomores to be better by the end of this year than last year but I expect there will often be two steps forward and once step back.

I expected this year's football defense to be better than last years but if you had told me they would suffer 4 ACL injuries, I wouldn't have expected them to play as well as they have the last few weeks. I didn't expect them to go from awful to great in one year.

I never expect to win a NC in football, no matter how much we are touted by the talking heads. There are just too many things that can go wrong to expect those kind of outcomes.
