Manyang

Under coached juco's need a lot of work to get up to speed by 2nd semester. Instead he had to sit for months with the broken foot or he might have helped much more.

Their big was a good match up for Manyang. Give him credit for making the most of his time. I am in the camp that thinks he will improve a lot this summer if he stays healthy. The foot problem really set him back. He has holes in his game obviously but also brings some things to the table that other don't. I bet Coach can help fill in those holes.

Very difficult for teams to score inside when Manyang is out there. I can't understand why this is difficult for some to see. Yes, I do believe that not playing him more cost us some games.

Yup. It's simple. Kruger kinda botched that one

I suspect coach shut him down mid season to allow time for his foot injury to heal. He has looked much more spry the past couple of games so I think it was the right call.

When I traveled to Lubbock on February 17, I visited briefly with Manyang in the lobby of the team hotel before the Texas Tech game. AK was still struggling with his injury at that time. Up close and personal, AK is a friendly and likeable young man. He seemed very upbeat for a player that has to be frustrated by his lack of playing time.

Like others, I think AK could have a really good senior season at OU. I hope he can be healthy for the entire next 12 months.

This is a year when the OU coaches never know what they will get from the bench players. If a reserve player comes in and is productive, then he is left in the game to continue his positive production. Otherwise, the bench players have been on a short leash.

I've thought the same thing: He looks much healthier now.

Could be correct. Earlier in the year he would come in and teams would go right after him and score left and right on him. Maybe it was lack of experience or health. He definitely played good on defense yesterday.

His defense was better yesterday but his offense stinks. If it is not a dunk forget it.

His presence inside can be a huge advantage when he's effective. Any offense should be considered gravy. Just make the dunks and hit the boards.

Unfortunately the same can be said of Lattin and Spangler (dunk or nothing). Spangler is in a funk and it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Spangs does his thing on defense and rebounds well. Offense has always been limited.

I think Buford is a prototype 3 small forward. He shouldn't be expected to be a rim protector. I think Manyang should have been seeing a little more time. Seemed like he went into the dog house.

Not a rim protector but should at least be able to box out smaller players. Terrible rebounder.

Just my .02 cents, but I think Manyang is looking more comfortable the last several games when he is in there. He still makes mistakes and gets out of position at times, but he is better than he was a month ago.

Some of you guys make it sound like Buford was a non-factor in Friday's game. While it's true he only had one rebound, it's not like he didn't contribute in other ways to OU's win. He had 9 points on 3 of 7 shooting from the field (2 of 4 from three), 4 assists, 1 block and 1 steal in just 18 minutes, not to mention some solid defense.

To me, that's worthy of at least a mention to go along with some pretty harsh criticism because he didn't rebound as well as expected. Truth is, no one on the team rebounded well in that game. Spangler led the team in rebounding with 6, Buddy had 5 and Jordan 4, all as starters logging a lot more minutes.

Ada: You, of all people, should know by now that the expectations among many Sooner fans far exceed unreasonable. You're about 100 times more patient and understanding in your criticism than I could ever be. :ez-laugh:

Oh, I know that all too well, scrybe. I just find it hard to accept that a few posters on this board choose to focus on one negative stat, instead of giving a player credit for the good things he brought to the game. I'm not surprised by it, annoyed is a better description.

I'm not sure I want to be here next season when three starters on this year's team are no longer around? I mean that sincerely!

Buford did very well on the offensive end.

Just lots of defensive deficiencies that can hopefully be improved by next year, because he has great potential.
