Matt Pilgrim accused of rape - OSU student paper

That has to give the OSU PR folks a bigger headache than our guys Facebook posts.

I don't get how that's even a publishable article. They interview a guy through text message? Yeesh.

It is is only a publishable article if they get if from his facebook wall.

Only a college newspaper in a certain part of the state would do that

hmm... I wonder what rocks you would be digging under if it was an OU player in trouble. Maybe his twitter? his facebook? a love note to his girl? Journalists can and will use anything to publish an article.

That article needs a total re-write, but what's wrong with interviewing someone via text message? It's extremely common for journalists to get quotes or tips from sources that way. If it's going to be a longer interview it's usually easier to pick up the phone or shoot an e-mail, but I see no issue with what the O'Colly reporter did here. And as the article says, they did sit down with him in his dorm room for an interview.

It's not exactly Woodward and Bernstein, but it's an interesting and newsworthy story. I'd say it's pretty good journalism. Fair play to Emily Jo Dixon and the O'Colly.

Text message quotes are very common, the publication just doesn't usually state that the quote was obtained that way.

Welcome to our world, my aggie friend. We've had several articles regarding OU basketball based soley on facebook and twitter musings (and that was by non-student newspaper journalists). Ridiculous I know.

A bunch of oSu fans have wasted a TON of Vaseline on status updates, texts and tweets from OU guys, a few that post on here. Of course now it is a "joke".

Anyone Else notice most of the aggies disappeared when we weren't "sensitive" enough to their troubles.

Bottom line is that oSu posters that post on here wish nothing but absolute failure for the University of Oklahoma, no matter how much they pretend not to.

Not this one. I in fact saw jeff capel today where I work and shot him a hello and a nice recruiting round up.

There are always some bad eggs, but most of the non-OU posters on this board are quality. Except Cheno.
