Sheesh, so many overreactions, first positive and negative. Ride it out, see what happens--nothing is assured till the new guys, whomever they might be, are enrolled and on campus (and even then, it's not guaranteed beyond a year), so it's best to not get excited prematurely. I read this thread, but mostly I skim it, because none of it--absolutely none of it--matters until players make their decisions and commit. Until then it's all rumors and hearsay, smoke and mirrors.
As for shutting down the program (good grief), things won't stay this way. They'll settle down eventually, one way or the other. Just like the Old West, the current "Wild West" will get settled. Rich guys will tire of shelling out big bucks, just to see the star they threw all that dough at leave a year later, looking for a bigger payout. Kids will see that it often doesn't work out for the guys who transfer every year (and it won't--they'll make some dough, but they won't establish the contacts that will serve them later in life and they won't maximize their talents either).
Don't get me wrong--I hate the way things are now. But it won't last. I don't have a crystal ball and can't say exactly what changes are coming but they're coming. The current system is simply untenable. Hopefully, OU will be well situated for what's next. But calling for the program to be shuttered? That's silly.
