MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

-Barely contacted any bigs

Those are all verifiable, for the most part.

So with 2 weeks left for athletes to enter, and our 1 visit per week average, it is not feeling that great right now. Mostly very frustrated.

But hey, things can change?

(Especially with Bryce Pope just visiting around -- joking -- sort of)

Moser about to start some Freshmen that are meh and not ready to start if this continues. Oh man Joe C is looking like a big, dumb, idiot the way he and leadership treat the basketball team. I'm not even a Moser fan and I know this is horrible. What's the point of keeping him if you're not going to give him resources to at least put together an okay roster?

Honestly, he should have left for DePaul. Now he's sticking around just to get fired.
 
Not sure if it's posted, but Bob P gave us a 30% chance to land Garrison. Oh, that chance is declining as well according to him.

That's not what was said. What he said was it started yesterday around 50% for Garrison and is now probably around 30% but basically things change good or bad per the day and don't know what tomorrow brings.
 
If we don't have a chance of fielding a good team this year, save that NIL money for the next coach and next year's NIL. I hope we don't just throw that money at some average players that really aren't going to get us anywhere anyways.

I agree. It would have been best for both parties. This off season was always going to be an uphill battle.

1. The Moser shine has completely worn off. People are noticing his lack of success at OU.
2. OU is not keeping up with other schools regarding NIL.

I understand people being optimistic. But I just can’t believe people on this board thought that it was magically gonna come together for Moser in year four when it hasn’t the last three years. There is no chance he gets a roster that can make the tournament. last year was his last chance. And it’s not entirely his fault. He’s probably not getting the money he needs. That’s just the reality of it. It doesn’t make me happy as a fan to say that.

This should probably be the plan.

It’s kinda a double edged sword.

1. You have a program that does not support the basketball team the way it should. Especially when it comes to NIL.

2. You have a coaching staff that is proving to not be great at player development and probably isn’t going to find some under the radar guys who will turn out to be studs. The transfer portal is huge and there are definitely dudes out there who are flying under the radar but will Moser and co. find them? Probably not.

How are they going to get better if leadership continues to treat the b-ball program like b-ball doesn't generate the 2nd most revenue in college sports?

Other sports getting "nice things" doesn't mean bball is being treated any such way.

Our last two HC'ing hires were a HOF'er and either the, or one of the, hottest coaching names in college basketball.

Football doesn't have crazy NIL to distribute either. Does Joe C hate OU football?

I do believe the leaders want OU to be good. I don’t think anybody is happy with the results of the last three years. But it’ll probably take a catastrophe to force them to make the needed changes.
 
Our collapse in recruiting reminds me of our collapse during the season. As of Saturday, people were crowing about (and taking for granted) the foregone conclusion we were going to imminently lock up two players people were over the moon about. My how things have changed. Since no one (not our beat guys OR the “insiders” on the board) actually knows where these guys will go, I’ll allow for the possibility things swing back in our way. But it should be yet another reminder to never take anything for granted with Moser.
