MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

OU is going to sign guys.. essentially they have to eventually. But players that have other P5 options? Man, Norman seems like a tough sell right now. I know this is mostly about NIL/$$ but I also assume the offers for a lot of these kids are similar. I’m not sure what “tie breaker” advantages OU offers currently. The fear that may turn into reality is OU winds up offering non P5 kids just to round out the roster.
Winning still matters. Making the tournament still matters. Moser has gone from "He's building something at OU that you should be apart of" to "He's potentially a lame duck coach who will be fired at the end of the season anyways."

Missouri just went 0-18 in conference and they don’t seem to be having any issues in the portal. Maybe it’s because they’re dumping truckloads of cash.

They also won 25 games the year before (HC's first year) and won a game in the Dance.

Well yeah they’ve clearly got a bunch of money to throw at kids. More than OU. That’s definitely a strategy. OU was never gonna have that kind of money but a coach with a winning resume can make up for some of that.

Yeah, I think Moser had a very real chance at succeeding at OU if we could have made the tourney as expected and retained most of our core. Once we missed, it seems like we've been snowballing ever since. He's going to have to have one of his top 3 seasons of coaching to dig out of lame duck territory.

Well he isn’t off to a great start here. At this point I don’t really expect him to sign Pedulla or Garrison. Who does that leave? A bunch of mid or low major guys. You can find diamonds in the rough, but if that’s what we’re hanging our hats on it could be another very long season that ends in our head coach getting fired. Depressing.

Has more to do with Porter Moser. Don’t perpetuate a myth.

He’s just waiting to see who else OU gets and finally I don’t blame him.
Welp, turns out family doesn't have a say.

Perpetuation falsehoods. Good player, but clout and shots are his primary interests. He has 10 siblings so family wasn’t worth turning down OSU for Tech. He was upset Bijan Cortes got instate offers over him so he holds a grudge about the state schools.

This kid followed Coach Hump today

DNP this year for Wisconsin as a true frosh (I vaguely remember him taking a leave from the team). He was a top 150 HS kid, though, and was offered by OU.

Hopefully Hump blocks him. Kid can’t play and he had major off the court issues.

Yeah. I'm gonna have to disagree with this a bit. I think it's more to do with the resources that OU lacks than Moser. And I don't even like Moser.

He had the resources to get guys like Javian, Moore, Soares, and Hugley last offseason. He has also landed several top 100 guys out of HS. If he has less in terms of resources this year, it's largely from missing the tourney again this year.

I'm not asking for Hunter Dickinson and Kevin McCullar. I want Garrison, Pedulla, and Overton. We were landing Pedullas and Overtons right and left in the portal last year.

Saint Thomas, Bryce Pope to USC... Am I a... Trojan fan now? ✌️

Sucks when we could have had both of these guys.

According to Big 12 standards we had one of the least talented rosters in the Big 12 last year....................again. In regards to resources, we're not close to where we need to be.

I would also argue Garrison is more important than any player we landed last year. In the fact he's a rim protector.

Wonder how happy some are now that we lost Uzan and Oweh. I know they weren't perfect but they can play. I saw numerous posts early on about wanting them gone etc
