MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Godfrey would be a nice addition. He can’t do it alone, but definitely a solid role player, at minimum.

Elvis/Forsythe
Jones/Scott
Cooper/Cole/Atak
Moore/Godfrey (SF/PF)
Godwin/Northweather/Yaya

Scott was solely the 4 at #74 UNT
Elvis was soley the 1 at #32 Dayton
Godfrey played a mix of the 3/4 at #19 Clemson
Jadon Jones a mix of the 2/3 at #165 Long Beach St.

(Barring anything crazy from Pedulla/BG)

If that happens, or are we still all running around screaming FIRE like the cold open of The Office? (I think perhaps)

If we can’t get a legit starting 5 then I’d rather roll with Godfrey/Moore as our forwards and have Godwin off the bench. The offense just doesn’t work well with Godwin.

I think you meant Sooners Illustrated (used to be OUI). Or, maybe he's posting on both now, but I just see him active on SI.
That's right--thanks for the correction. I never updated my browser bookmarks, so the name change hasn't really registered with me.

godfrey would be great...he put up good numbers for 15 mpg.

I'm a little worried that Moore is leaving

Why are you all trying to slide Godfrey to the 3? He's probably a 5 that can play the 4 on the right team. Definitely a "big". On paper he is the kind of big I've been asking us to go after for years. The kind of body that Kelvin turns into a starting 5 (or 4 on occasion) on really good teams. Start him next to Moore if Moore sticks around.

from what I see, he is 6'8"...basically a moore clone. I would say he is probably a 4 that can play the 5 on the right team

Agreed.

Too many people look at the 5 like it was in the old days. The truth of the way the game is played today is a 5 is more like the old traditional power forward. Someone who can defend the post or go out on the baseline or wing, can defend the pick and roll, and one who can clean up the glass and guard the rim. On offense, someone with good feet around the basket, can go to the rim with force, can put the ball on the floor, and maybe hit a 10-12 jumper with consistency. Basically, physical presence from the free-throw line to the baseline. Plus, PM's 4:1 offense or 5 out doesn't really have a true 5 spot anyway.

Godfrey seems to check those boxes.

Call him a #4 or a small #5, or just refer to him as the low post. He would be a good get and could fill the void if needed.

Agreed. He subbed in for Clemson's 4/5.

I like Elvis more than some here. He had a good game against Arizona in the tourney. He’s got some length and outside shooting ability.

It’s on Moser to make sure his role is one he can handle.
