MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Basically:

1. Arena sucks, so if you can't get a new one built, then add parking garages around the LNC, as well as bars and stuff around it (honestly not the worst idea he's ever had, but would never happen and just kicks the can further down the road).
2. Kellen almost got the job before Moser, and knows how to rebuild OU from watching his father do it, so he'd be good as the HC. When questioned about why OU should hire someone with no head coaching experience, he said the Thunder took Daigneault from the Blue, and NBA teams hire assistants all the time (so I guess that would translate to high major college basketball?).
3. He's all for Kellen, unless someone better is interested, like BILLY DONOVAN (LOL).
Campus Corner South...I could dig it

sometimes the intangibles of keeping a guy that will never play around outweighs the tangible of a guy that sits at the end of the bench for 95% of the games

At the end of the day, we aren't ever going to be talented enough to play more than 8-9 guys anyways
Sure.. sometimes. But this is Defcon 1. If we get a guy and hes a cancer, then run him off the team. We need as much talent as possible and to take as many fliers as possible.

Look at Maks. He didn't do much all year.. but when JM was hurt and Uzan had amnesia, he helped win a game. I dont see Yaya EVER playing.. get a different body and take a swing

What is funny is that he thinks there are successful assistant hires all the time in the NBA but the one guy he mentioned that would be better than Kellen was very mediocre in the NBA after being super successful in college

Maks was on the team with yaya. You can still have several Maks with yaya on the team.

I get it if we just have all this talent flocking to Norman...but we don't. I don't envision a world where yaya being on scholarship has any negative impact on the team

I think it would be pretty big.
A guy with his frame and athleticism that just put up a per 40 in his first year in the big 12 of 18 ppg/11 rpg/ 1.5 bpg while shooting 40+% from 3
On top of all that, he actually performed better in conference than the weak nonconference.
He would have a big market
Shhhh. What you trying to sell here? Lol

Id forgotten hed shot so well from 3. Now I'm glad his minutes per game werent so high. So only his per 40 looks great rather than his per game

Id rather have 2 maks (1 year rental guards) than yaya (multiple year raw big man that has never played)

Maks we knew nothing about and he had 1 year.. yaya has been here for multiple years now and has done nothing. Take a swing on a guy as what needs to happen. Will it probably matter in the long run? No. But neither will having a bench warmer

man I've never subscribed to those idiots but I wanna see it so bad I am about to have to
I'm overexaggerating things, a bit. Basically, he's being a deranged fan. He's supposed to be media/a reporter with a little more rationality. People follow the guy for insight and unfortunately, some take his word seriously (believes what he says). We don't need more idiot basketball fans. We need more non-idiots. Is that harsh? Eh, I guess.

Here's an example.

It's nonsensical, to me, and certainly not archaic. You can't compare the hiring practices of the two (collegiate) sports. It's vastly different. We touched on this when the Moser/DePaul stuff was going on. How many SEC schools have first-time HCs (assts turned HC)? Zero now that Vandy hired Mark Byington....so yeah, I don't think that would be the wisest choice ever. In fact, the statistics show us that most first time HCs, at the power program level, fail. Examples like Tommy Lloyd at Zona are rare successes.

He's rattling off a bunch of other nonsense when it comes to the LNC that I disagree with. Just win, baby. The LNC has it's faults, OU needs a new (on-campus) arena, but in the immediate, fans will show up to the LNC when OU's really good.

At like 1:30 am, he wanted Moser fired now. No mention of how terrible OU's NIL is (he thinks it's not). The same athletics department that can't find enough support to properly fund MBB NIL is going to drop $6M to pay a buyout with 8 days left in the portal. Okay, that sounds doable. That's not a shot at the AD, FWIW. We were all pissed yesterday, I even joked about firing Moser, but I hope to hell that no one thought it was a likely occurrence at this point in time. Hell, maybe Drumm realizes it too but I'm not sure.

And yeah, he continues to be Kellen's mouthpiece. We get it, dude.

Aidoo is visiting Kentucky.

Onyenso is leaving UK, as we know

Garrison still in limbo

HS recruit Quaintance eliminated Arkansas (not following Cal)

Great Osobor is supposed to be visiting UK as well.

Several others big-related things going on as well (example: St John's just got some dude)

Against "high major" competition (Kobe Elvis)...

2 against Northwestern
10 points against St Johns (on 10 shots)
2 points against Houston
4 points against SMU
27 points against Cincy
3 points against Nevada
13 against Arizona (on 14 shots)

8.7 points per game. 37% field goal percentage on the year.

Holy fucc. Just read the OUI portal thread (last couple of pages). Drumm is a colossal moron.

I might just catch a ban. Let's see. 😂
I'm engaged with him in that thread RN as he first argued for Billy Donovan and is now stuck on Kellen. Said Kellen would be a good HC because look how Daigneault did?!? seriously.

I'm being civil, so far, so no ban yet. LOL.

He’ll be a good backup but obviously a problem if OU is relying on him to start.

The 27 against Cincy is interesting.

Continue with your misery then. It’s certainly your prerogative. We could have made the final four, and some on here would still be miserable.
I just don't understand the concept of objectively asking questions equating to being miserable. I do understand there is a perceived negativity around Wichita's posts because he is an outspoken poster as far as his malcontent for the current state of the program. But asking why we think it would be reasonable to get a good big that is transferring from an elite program based solely on how we finished in his high school recruiting is fair IMO. I guess I just want to know what is wrong with that?

So basically, he's Darthard. Solid if you're asking him to hit a few catch and shoot 3s off the bench, underwhelming if you're expecting him to start and play 25+ minutes a game

To be fair, I was at the last Final Four appearance in Houston and yes, I was miserable

No.

Had 9 assists vs Houston and no turnovers.

12 games this season with 5+ assists (4x vs teams on that list)
3+ turnovers only five times.

Darthard had 5+ assists three times over a 5 year career and cannot initiate or create offense on his own. They’re not remotely similar players.
