MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

No.

Had 9 assists vs Houston and no turnovers.

12 games this season with 5+ assists (4x vs teams on that list)
3+ turnovers only five times.

Darthard had 5+ assists three times over a 5 year career and cannot initiate or create offense on his own. They’re not remotely similar players.
That's a good point, I was basing that assessment purely off of the scoring numbers. Didn't realize his assist numbers were so high, but I should've because I'm now remembering his transfer video had something like a 24% assist rate which is pretty absurd

I also think Darthard is a good shooter off movement/screens without the ball, while I’d consider Elvis more of a spot up type. But that would be something he could add to his game that could help this year.

This isn't going to happen but I kind of like this kid. Say as a backup PG/SG type off the bench...getting you 10 ish ppg.

He started off at D2 (Winston-Salem State). His ppg there increased from 9.5 in year one to 12 ish in year 2. Then he took the jump to D1 (at Presby) and his ppg increased to 13.6...

Had 28 in the CBI tourney vs a pretty good (mid major) Montana team. He had 17 vs Wake Forest. Only 6 out of 32 games this year did the kid fail to register double digits. I'd have to dig into his defense but dang, someone (mid major) may get a little bit of a diamond in the rough, so to speak.

I sure hope we find a couple point guards soon. No matter who else we sign, if we don’t have a good PG on the roster, it’s going to be ugly.

Yeah, that's why Pedulla was so important. Needed the trigger man at PG.

They're probably quietly still trying with Pedulla. But who knows, this staff obviously very stealthy.

Not sure why people are calling Elvis a PG. He wasn't at Dayton.

Oklahoma

Priority: Backcourt studs

Milos Uzan, Otega Oweh, and Javian McCollum all hit the transfer portal, and Le'Tre Darthard and Rivaldo Soares are two rotation wings Porter Moser will already have to replace. Oklahoma needs a ton of firepower in the portal if it wants to be a tournament team in 2024-25. The wish list likely begins with three starting guards.

As others have said, if he's the 7th or 8th guy, fine, we have plenty of spots to fill. If we're counting on him as a starter and major contributor then meh.

At like 1:30 am, he wanted Moser fired now. No mention of how terrible OU's NIL is (he thinks it's not). The same athletics department that can't find enough support to properly fund MBB NIL is going to drop $6M to pay a buyout with 8 days left in the portal. Okay, that sounds doable. That's not a shot at the AD, FWIW. We were all pissed yesterday, I even joked about firing Moser, but I hope to hell that no one thought it was a likely occurrence at this point in time. Hell, maybe Drumm realizes it too but I'm not sure.

And yeah, he continues to be Kellen's mouthpiece. We get it, dude.
I know some around here like to argue the semantics of it, but OU's money to do a buy out and the money our collective/donors have to readily pay NIL, aren't in the same buckets of money.

And please stop bad mouthing Kellen. Thank you! :)

I know it's not the same money pot but my point is/was; if they're not serious about funding the NIL, I doubt they'd be serious enough to fund the buyout. Different pot, same general people involved, same apathy towards MBB.
