Also, this is a NC State reporter. Probably means Marcus Hill, who has (or had) an OV scheduled to OU, has decided to commit to NCST.

But Pope needs bodies at this point. As of last week, they had ZERO players on the roster for next year. I think they've had 2-3 commits since then, but they were in more of a desperate situation than us.

Getting an athletic guy from a P6 conference with two years of experience is a win. Not sure the blemishes we all know Oweh has is even a concern at this point for UK.

Rosselli flat-lined the program. It was "dead". The new staff's objective is to get OU back to prominence/respectability. They're, like you said, leaning into a free tool to help them in their efforts. Will it succeed fully? I mean, who knows, but at least they're (publicly) putting in the damn work.

And to further your point....as much as PM tries to promote the program on campus (and does a great job) and yet (Moser and/or someone in the basketball support staff/intern, etc.) totally fails at promoting the program for free on Social Media. It makes no sense. In today's world, a little creativity can go along way in building something.
 



One high major coach to me on the state of college basketball:


“It’s a f#%king disaster. For us veteran coaches, this is not what we signed up for. I am not mad at the kids one bit. They’re seeking their value and earning money, and I think they should. It’s your right to get paid. I would do the same thing that they’re doing. Anybody mad at the kids is foolish. But shame on the NCAA for not seeing this coming years ago and being proactive. Not having a boundary or a system in place at all, having no regulations to even attempt to find a common playing field is a major miss. These collectives will get coaches fired. We have had no break. Not one coach in the country has had a single day to sit down and breathe. It’s unhealthy. The other issue is you get attrition when you get commitments. Another kid sees someone commit, dislikes the idea of fighting for their role on a team and wants to bolt elsewhere. We can’t do this every single year. Kids should make big dollars. But the way this is set up right now with no contracts or regulations makes it impossible to sustain anything in this sport.”

while i agree .. it is also LOL .. there is a reason coaches get paid millions a year ..

there is very little the NCAA could do or can do now ..


until federal legislation comes (good luck) or we have a CBA and revenue share with players this is not going to change or get better
 
Oweh as a defensive specialist would be good for a loaded team.

Nothing to legislate .. it's just normal commerce. Maybe the NBA will step in at some point since they are the dream/top job. "Want to go to the NBA? Play in our minor league." That or the NIL have's will stipulate term length, assignment of rights, buyouts, free agency etc in return for massive contracts. When people get tired of the subscription model of basketball player lol.
 
They really have let the cat out of the bag re: NIL and the transfer portal. There's no way to reel that back in other than to make it as transparent as possible.
