MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

It's amazing how many of our posters seem to know more about what is best for BG's future and development as a player. The kid just chose one of the best programs in America over a coach/program that can't get out of its own way, and people are acting like he is an idiot. Grow up, folks. If you ask any objective person with no ties to either program whether a guy should choose UK or OU, it seems like a pretty clear choice. Our football program can certainly swoop in late and "steal" some guys who had been recruited longer by lesser programs, so let's not act appalled when we are on the wrong side of this in basketball.
Jesus Christ. He chose Kentucky because of money. He never even visited campus. You know what? This seems silly at this point. There's negative, and just being plain wrong and you're wrong here.

Now it's about player development too? It doesn't matter. It's about who pays the most money and Kentucky paid the most. Please stop trying to find a way to poo poo on OU. This isn't the coaches faults (can't believe I'm saying that).

Nobody is saying UK isn't a better program. Kentucky is a blue blood. There is also a lot of uncertainty there..

I'm not sure why you are so stuck on UK being a better program than OU...notbody is saying it isn't. There is no reason to go poll objective people. We all know the answer. Nobody is "appalled"

You are the one trying to make this a bigger deal than it is.

True, but.....

* OU is right down the street and he has a kid.
* He didn't even visit UK.
* He might not even start at UK.

Just feels like the local kid was never really interested. I know, I know, there have been reports that he was, or even that we may have lead at various points in his recruitment, but it's always felt like the kid wanted to end up anywhere but OU.

LOL

Does he need to visit campus to know it's a better program? Is that "negative?" To acknowledge that comparing us to UK in basketball is apples and oranges? Kentucky is one of probably five or six schools that 95 percent of kids dream of playing for. When they come calling, it's hard to turn down. And since you apparently can't read, I will type it again, slowly. I have never said money isn't a factor. But you are presenting your opinion (that it is ONLY about money) as fact. That is pure speculation. And even if it is true, there are plenty of other reasons why it is not a bad choice on his part.

It's really not. It's called money. OU isn't there in basketball yet, nor will it be for sometime.
So why wasn't it money when OU fans thought he was coming to OU and not Texas? Or maybe not Arkansas? Or not osu when they were rumored to have offered him every bit of what OU was rumored to have offered?

I know UK has deep pockets, but are they really paying their 2nd or 3rd string Center that much more than what OU offered? You can SPECULATE that they can, or are, but it's just that, speculation.

Everybody knew Garrison wanted to get paid, but they also said he wanted to win games. They said she wanted to stay close to home. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, this board has a lot of people that like to present opinions and rumors as fact.

Regardless of the money, UK offers a lot of the other things that Garrison was rumored to be wanting. If he wants to win, I don't blame him at all for not coming to OU. If he wants to spend the next 2-3 years at the same place and not be Portaling against next year, I don't blame him at all for not coming to OU, since he'd likely be getting a new coach after next season.

It's not always this or that. It's not always as black and white as a bunch of you NIL-whiners want to make it out to be. Like I said earlier, Garrison had no idea UK was going to get involved with him until recently. There is a reason OU and osu got first crack, and the kid was still actively looking around. Was the texas NIL not enough? The Arkansas NIL not enough? Kid was clairvoyant enough to know UK would get involved late and increase the offer?

At this point, Moser has no history of producing NBA players, and his bigs at OU have been subpar.
I agree but I would also add that Moser hasn't had any bigs with the ceiling BG has. We've been pedestrian at best down low since he arrived and that's probably being generous. And I do agree with you that some of that blame falls on Moser.

OU had how many weeks of a head start on UK? If it was just about the bag, OU would never have been in the conversation. Garrison didn't know what the UK bag was a week ago. Or two weeks ago. Or three weeks ago. And he still chose not to commit to OU at that time.

Both things can be true. It can be true he is probably at UK partially because of the money. It was can also be true that it was WAY more than the money that kept him away from OU.
He probably had an idea of the bag weeks ago. There is a reason these players have agents now.

I don't get why the no visit is such a big deal. Do you think Garrison really wanted to see the inside of the academic buildings? Think he needed to make sure the athletic housing was up to par? Any part of a visit that couldn't be recreated virtually? Any reason Pope or somebody else couldn't have met with him in Oklahoma, or that a phone call/video chat wouldn't have been sufficient?

Pretty sure OU football has had guys commit before visiting. Not often, but it happens. Those just money/NIL grabs too?

Even if that is true, that is 100% on the coaches. If they knew it was 100% about NIL, they also knew OU wouldn't be the choice and they should have moved on. So which is it?
