MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

Let me simplify it for those of you crying about NIL.

NIL is the reason Garrison chose UK over texas and Arkansas.
NIL is NOT the reason Garrison avoided OU like the plague.
avoided like the plague?
He could have shot us down from the beginning but didn't. OU has had a chance for over a month.
Where do you come up with these ideas?

While I'm certainly not defending Moser, being 0-3 for in-state kids is a horrible look.....there's no true safety net with Pope, if you will. Pope hasn't won chit in college basketball. He's stacked up wins in the WCC (BYU) and at Utah Valley, mostly. Which is similar to Moser at Loyola, right? Except Moser has actual tournament success. Pope's coached one year in a power conference. Zero tourney wins. Without looking, so if I'm wrong call me out, he's developed zero BIGS into NBA players (as a HC).

Just because he now has the UK logo on his chest, it doesn't guarantee any success or development. It could very well be repackaged mediocrity.

We all know by now that Garrison has a young kid. People close to him even said things like, "he'll probably stay close to home". In the 11th hour, he chooses a school with an average HC, nothing that points to great development, a school he didn't visit, and a school that isn't close to home.

Yeah, Kentucky made a money move. An Alvin Brooks special. It is what it is. JMO.
You are right about the part that is bolded. That is for sure.

Much like everything else that gets discussed on message boards, the people on this board don't have anywhere near all of the information. I'm fine with speculation, no matter how well though and logical it may seem, but it's still just that, speculation. If the kid wanted the biggest bag and nothing else mattered, he'd have talked to a lot more schools from a lot of different parts of the country. But that really isn't what happened. Nobody on this board knows what his Kentucky offer was, or how it compared to his offers from texas or Arkansas. We don't. But I know all of the programs that showed him interest (other than osu) were in the Tournament this year or easily project to be there next year (Arkansas). I know OU doesn't. OU might not have met his NIL needs, but OU also didn't meet some of the other needs that were supposedly important to him (winning, development, etc).

I think CoachTalk could give us a solid figure. Instead he's just laughing at you. That's good enough for me.

This guy was a freshmen stud at New Mexico this year where he averaged 12.4 pts and 9.1 rebs. He is from Dallas. I may be in the minority here, but I would prefer him to Garrison or Onyenso. I haven't looked into it, but my guess is he will go closer to home like Baylor, TCU, or SMU. I would throw the money earmarked for Garrison to Toppin.

Anybody see anything on him where he's leaning, possible visits, etc?

How do you know he didn't shoot us down? I'd say continuing to take MULTIPLE visits. Continuing to not commit to OU. Continuing to seek out new suitors. I'd say that all pointed to OU never really being his preferred destination. Maybe he lead our staff on. Maybe our staff is just too stupid to have realized it. Garrison wasn't raised a Sooner. More likely to me he was just playing around with OU, maybe keeping them close enough in case he wanted/needed a soft landing spot. Garrison is like the GF that cheats, talks to other guys, has a bunch of guys friends, and doesn't even like hanging out with you. She's trying to tell you where you really stand, but you have to be smart enough to see it. Moser.....

lol...imagine putting SPECULATE in caps and lecture us on rumors and then write 3 more paragraphs all based on assumptions and rumors
Because I'm smart enough to know that's what it all is. Some of you think you have facts. That's the laughable part.

I’m this close to saying we spend all the NIL we have left on guards/wings.

Will it equate to wins? Maybe not, but it’ll be more fun than the alternative, which appears to be settling for a big man from Wahoo Technical School.

A dude at a small town school in Oklahoma that attended osu and roots for OU?

lol, yeah, I'm good.

I think it’s got Baylor written all over it but we’ll see I guess.

Only problem is he played the 4 for NM, I don't see him being able to stretch to the 5 full time.

So would a
Elvis
Transfer CG
Moore
Toppin
Godwin

Work? with Jones and Goodine off the bench and toppin small ball 5, with Northweather backup 5? idk honestly.

Lots of talk of UK losing out on Osobor now bc of the BG thing...UK with a lot of infighting, it is entertaining to sift through

Pope also got his a$$ kicked this year by who....PORTER EFFIN MOSER!! I guess wichita forgot about that too. Are any of us suurprised by his comments?? He's the easiest person to predict on this board.
Or maybe Wichita would prefer to look at the season as a whole rather than focus on 1/32nd of the body of work, in a home game at that. But yeah, I'm sure BYU would much rather have that head-to-head win over us than make the tourney as a 6-seed in their first season in the Big 12. Much like I'm sure Alabama is still really sad about that game in Norman two years ago.

Kinda interesting here names not included:
RJ Davis
Caleb Love

Included:
Javion McCollum
Milos Uzan
Jalon moore also included

Laughing after once again being wrong on his prediction on one of the main guys we targeted? But hey, "things change. It happens."
