MBB Transfer Portal Thread: Moser Year 4

So up & down this offseason. More worried now, at worst we need to land Reeves. Back up that we can develop.

I'm not confident that we can land a legit guard at this point.

Negative WT post to follow, please stop reading if your feelings are easily hurt.....

The good thing about having so many players in the final year of their eligibility is that when Moser fails and we're looking to replace him next year, there isn't much guesswork involved for the new coach on what the roster will look like. Atak, Cole, and Forsythe.....those are the only three players currently on the roster with a pulse that will have eligibility past this season. The new coach will be able to easily come in and build his own roster.

I am very happy with Duke Miles. Scoring guard, can run the point. That was a huge pickup IMO.

We can find another guard or wing to add, maybe get a bump from a freshman or Cole, and add a defensive big.

I don't think it makes us a Top25 team, but I think we are at least in the Top-50 pushing bubble/tournament range.

Better than Oklahoma state right now, that is for sure.

I just dont understand the "all the eggs in the basket" strategy when you need to fill spots. We fell backwards into Miles, tried with Richmond. Let's get SCORING GUARDS IN. I don't know how many times Dell'Orso needs to be brought up for the coaching staff to make a damn phone call.

Don't compare us to them.

Del'Orso should've been on campus. It's ridiculous that he hasn't been yet.

Oklahoma St - worse basketball, worse food, Eskimo Joe's
Oklahoma - better basketball, better food, The Mont/Mr. Goodscents (RIP)/Tarahumaras/Sugers. Nuff said..

I did it AGAIN! WHAT NOW?!

Jk, I am just going stiry crazy with the lack of news/coverage

Did we really think that, after how this whole Portal season has gone, the top player available in the Portal right now would end up here?

OU needs to go after a big. Like, now!

Why would the kid even visit if he had zero interest in OU?? Move along.

I'm with you. Hard to keep the vibes going with us striking out on Richmond and hoping for a prayer on the Center.

I fully admit, I’ve watched zero tape on Del Rancho. How would you describe his game? Shooter? Any good player comparisons?

I keep seeing him brought up, and I know SB is high on him but I don't see it. Granted I've done little research....He put up good numbers in the CAA but I don't think he can defend at a power 5 level. We can't afford a developmental player this point. Under different circumstances I'd love to have Dell'Orso, as a low risk high reward option. Maybe if we hadn't brought in Goodine or Elvis.

I have had much higher hopes of landing a quality guard than big.

Remember a few weeks back when some members of the pro-Moser crowd were laughing about our anxiety and pointing out that we didn't sign a couple of last year's key portal guys till mid (or late) April? I've been busy -- can someone let me know if we have passed that point on the calendar?

I know you didn't ask (no one usually does) but this prompted a breakdown from me.
I am applying my scoring system to every SEC school's current starting lineup to see how we stack-up.

It is gonna take me a minute, but at least we can have a decent look at us vs them.

You are pretty spot on, I ran the numbers through my system score and Dell'Orso came in just above Jadon Jones and Kobe Elvis, but below McCollum/Oweh etc.

Again, this is crude, but playing at #311 Campbell hurt his totals for sure.

If we add Del’Orso and Onyenso I would consider it a successful portal season. However, I still don’t get why we are throwing all this money at Onyenso, go get a big time guard or combo guard that can get buckets. It’s not like Godwin was awful last season or the reason we missed the tourney.

I’m still laughing at those wringing their hands and panicking.

We’ve signed good pieces.
Still plenty of opportunities left

Your post is actually hilarious because it supports those saying we shouldnt panic yet

Just curious… where would Dalton Knecht’s 22-23 season at Northern Colorado have fallen on this list? He and Dell’Orso have pretty similar statistics, and have a lot of the same strengths & weaknesses. Knecht’s a better athlete & has a better J though imo.

Knecht was also a SR on a slightly better team. So that affects the multiplier a bit. (it is far from perfect, but I am trying my best to help gauge portal transfers from lower schools)

I mean, we’ve added 3 commitments in the last two weeks, so not sure wtf you are talking about. I know, all the players we’ve got so far suck to you, so continue with your misery. I hear it likes company.

We’ve signed guys that rank in the low 200s according to most rankings. We didn’t exactly beat out great programs for any of them. If signing three low major guys who should be complimentary pieces, and no players who should play leading roles, makes you feel like things are going well, good for you.

Do you ever contribute any actual basketball thoughts, or just like hating on posts that don't pump enough sunshine for you?

You should feel ecstatic. You're always right, so you'll finally get what you want. PM fired after next season.
So cheer up.
