McGusty and McNease should be starting

I don't think he is as good as James, odomes, mcgusty, or Shepherd and there isn't enough minutes to go around.

Coach Kruger clearly disagrees, and I assume he has strong reasons for continuing to play Ty. Should he lose us a game (very unlikely), I might join you in complaining, but he has yet to have a negative impact, which is why I think it's odd some posters bother to keep complaining about him.

Odomes and James are starting. He's not taking their minutes. Shepherd's been getting his share of minutes (and I don't think Ty would ever play PG, anyway), so the only person (potentially) impacted by Lazenby getting a few minutes is McGusty, and he played 26 minutes today. If any of those players (excluding Shepherd) gets injured, we'll be glad Ty got some minutes against quality competition, as he'll then be called upon to play some. That's the upside of playing him a few minutes each game; so far, there's been no downside.

Lazenby's been playing every game. Fans keep dismissing him, but Coach Kruger keeps giving him his minutes.

Bad minutes.

I’ll defer to Kruger but the kid doesn’t look like a D1 player.

Minutes played at TCU:

15 ... Khadeem Lattin
25 ... Jamuni McNeace

38 ... Trae Young

36 ... Christian James
14 ... Rashard Odomes
24 ... Kam McGusty
_6 ... Ty Lazenby

McGusty and McNeace played "starters minutes" today in Fort Worth.

Interesting breakdown

I like McGusty getting starter minutes but keep him as the 6th man so he can give us a scoring boost when some starters sit

Good thing you’re a cat on a message board. Lazenby has more game in his left hand than you do in your whole Life.

Odomes minutes were reduced because of foul trouble.

In basketball? No doubt.

But I was a bad D1 athlete just like him.

Because I say Lazenby shouldn’t be playing?

I guess you may as well ban me now, because otherwise I’ll continue discussing/critiquing OU players’ games.

there's a difference between criticizing someone's play and questioning their suitability for being on the team at all.

you're not the one who puts in the time and effort for the program so you have exactly zero "room" to offer a single word in that regard.

now if you want to go down, walk on, and do all that they do in order to EARN those minutes then maybe. but I happen to know that if you did so you wouldnt be saying this because Lon teaches his guys to be better men than that. something I guess your coach didnt do.

Some of you people have no idea about d1 basketball or hell even team sports. It’s ok to have one guy that everyone likes and he plays a couple minutes and works his a$$ off in practice to make the starters better.

It’s a team game! This team wouldn’t be as mature if it weren’t for CJ Cole and you guys can make fun of that all fn day. But you’re clueless.

You can’t gave 13 Legit 4-5 stars.

Unless one is prepared to attribute our loss to Arkansas to the three minutes Ty played in that game, it seems kind of silly to fret over the very few minutes he's played; they've had no impact on our season whatsoever.

But if at some point, because of injuries, he's called upon to play a few more minutes per game, we'll be glad for every minute he has under his belt.

I don't question Ty's minutes but I am curious why he received more than Shepherd tonight, who's played pretty well thus far.

Could be that Coach sensed we were in a down-to-the-wire battle and felt we needed Trae out there every minute he could handle. It could be that Shepherd was (or has been) under the weather or has a slight injury. He didn't look particularly effective in the two minutes he did play; maybe he pulled something while he was on the court.

Lazenby deserves to be on the team. no doubt. but i think it is certainly fair to question his minutes.

On what basis? How would the season have gone differently so far if he'd not played a single minute?

ridiculous argument i am not getting into. it’s about the crucial 2nd team minutes he gets going forward in an insanely tough conference. but i am not going to bash the kid.
