KU lock Ioannis Papapetrou commits to Texas.

Coach Toupée is struggling.

Oh well, there's always the Juco route.

Recruiting this greek kid (a shooting guard) in my mind is proof that Buddy Hield had a firm KU offer and that they wanted them...

Self has really struggled since the FBI started looking into the money down in Lawrence. They've gone from landing McDonald's All Americans who never even visited and whose coaches challenged people to find proof he was paid BEFORE anyone accused him of anything, to going after and missing on second level talent.

Surely it's just coincidental.

Why do I have a strange feeling Hield can ball? I think he may be a steal.

I'm still skeptical. Seems like every time we say this is KU's downfall they end up winning the conference fairly easily.

KU has won a lot of Big XII titles; however, the South typically had three of the top 4 teams with the north having KU. That was a huge advantage that no longer exists. I fully appreciate that KU is the best program in the conference but I think playing everyone twice will make it much more difficult for KU to win the conference as often.

they have the best team this year, they should win easily unless injuries dig into their lack of depth.

next year it may catch up to them. they either need to light up the recruiting board before the 2012-13 season starts or they need some guys to be better than they seem. maybe both.

FIFY- Taylor, Releford, Robinson and Johnson are a strong 4. And you don't need much more than that to have a good basketball team. But I think their lack of depth catches up to them. If T-Rob gets in foul trouble, they are toast. And teams with deep front lines- Baylor and A&M can hurt Kansas inside.

It will be interesting to watch. I think Kansas doesn't win it this year. I just hope the Ags don't win it. And they could.

I wouldn't include Releford as any part of a "strong four." He's never proven he's more than a decent role player. He's got a long way to go to be a contributor on a high level team IMO.

Also, DenverSooner, the north/south split in basketball has not really been that big. The South hasn't had three of the top four teams since Quin was coaching.

Their depth is going to be a problem, but the starters will compete with anyone in the league. Agree with Haithers Gonna Haith, next year it's going to catch up with them, desperately need an impact freshman.

Yes it has been. In the last couple of years it has been a bit more evenly distributed; however, the South has still been stronger. While I do enjoy mocking Missouri, none of this has been the fault of Missouri. Missouri has consistently fielded a competitive basketball team

Now with that said, KU is simply the best program in this conference. KU may have won the regular season anyway but I suspect with the new format the regular season championships will look much more like the Big XII Tournament Championships with KU winning around 40 to 50% of the time rather than the 80% (or whatever it has been). I fully expect KU to win the conference more often than any other team. They might still win it more often than everyone combined but I don't think they are going to dominate quite as much.
