Mitchell Solomon

The NCAA tournament is littered with teams that win with players that didn't sniff the Top 150. That being said, I know we aren't KU, UK, Duke, etc etc basketball tradition wise, but are we chopped liver? I think not. I like the way Lon does things and so far who are we to complain? OU just got off a probation caused by an attrocious coach, so he does need a little time. The NCAA last year was a good first step. Let's wait and see what he does with the 2014 class. I get frustrated also that we aren't committing "high-star" guys, and ultimately there is no reason why a coach at OU can't, and get the kind of players that will get OU to the FInal Four. The previous two legitimate coaches were able to...

I'm perfectly happy with 3 or 4 star guys who have 1 star egos and 5 star work ethics.

LK's recruiting remind me of KS' recruiting, top rated players are in the #75-#150 range. So far LK ias mirroring KS approach.Just hope he doesn't go off the rails like KS did and lie and cheat.Personally I think Lon has too much integriity for that.

Lie and Cheat? You mean make too many phone calls?

I am interested to see how he fits in at OSU. He doesn't work well in an uptempo game and I believe I was told he has something medically that affects his conditioning. I think hey figured out what it was which would help him, however he doesn't like going up and down the court at a fast rate.

He can stretch the floor with his shooting ability.

if this is true, combined with how practices are going so far, maybe it's a good thing we didn't get him?

That's the problem. We missed on two basically instate 3 to 4 star guys that we've been in on longer than anyone.

Mitch wasn't coming bc of parents. Part of the territory.

Evidently, he impressed a lot of people this summer

Definition of recruiting for many. Get hot at the right tournament in the right game or games.

He shot it really well and they liked that with his size. Have heard he might still grow some. He rebounds well too.

How he translates to a team that wants to fast break I am not sure about.

Why did Lon recruit him at all then? Hope OSU or any high majors don't offer?

And TIFWIW, but through talking to people close to the Solomons, his parents didn't push him to OSU in the least. In fact, apparently OU even led for Solomon's commitment for a period after OSU had offered. He was very interested in OU's petroleum engineering degree.

So you're saying the kid didn't commit to OSU for academics?

Well, I imagine Solomon considered a number of factors when considering which university to attend. That said, with regard to specific academic programs, it was likely more the case that a bachelor's in petroleum engineering doesn't exist at OSU, but believe it or not (probably not, but whatever), OSU's engineering program is respected nationally.

This is not realistic in my opinion. If you grow up with parents that went to OSU that is going to have a huge influence on your preference of OU v. OSU. I am not remotely suggesting his parents sat him down and said you have to go to OSU or even suggested where he should go to school but growing up with two OSU parents is going to be influential.

I don't know this family, I am simply commenting based on my observations of life.

Spin it anyway you want. We have won with guys like Solomon (Booker) but can't seem to win a head to head in recruiting against the Aggies.

I'm with DM. Mid major classes won't win championships.

Booker grew up in an OU family. His older brother played on the Baseball team.
