My buddy ran into Pledger yesterday and said he was "night and day" better in his physique this year compared to last year. A quicker Bird (on both ends) could really end up helping this year's squad compete in more games.

I hope he keeps working hard because he has a real chance to make a big stride this season. :pledge

Honest question: why is he called Bird?

Answer: I could certainly be wrong on this, but I seem to recall in an interview that he said that he got that nickname because he shot like Larry Bird. I've had a few drinks and a major board exam since then so don't hold it against me.

Perhaps sharp or someone could shed some light on this topic

Hmm, that's weird. He must've gotten hot one game and someone gave him that tag.

His actual shot is nothing like Larry Bird's. Larry Legend took it way back behind his head.

Maybe Pledger blows mean bebop saxophone.

Gotta be his nose, he looks like a bird...

I am glad to hear the progress...i really think he will be much improved over last season...if guys like him, Fitz and Cade all come in ready to lead not only vocally but by example this team has a chance to do a little more than people think...cant wait to see...

Read this last yr., he hit 11 of 14 3's in a game as a 13 yr old...A guy from Va. Prep called him "bird"...as in larry bird...

I saw Pledge about a week ago on campus eating at La Luna and he definitely looks thinner. I'd imagine he will be much quicker on his feet this year. Just looks thin though.

Quickness is something you are born with or without. He has heavy feet, losing 15 or 20 lbs will not change his quickness that much. jmo

It might not change his "quickness" but will probably enable him to recover better if he is a bit faster.

I guess it depends on your definition of quickness. I'm pretty sure anyone with his frame that loses 15-20 pounds the right way will be faster. If nothing else, he should be able to get more elevation on his jumper.

Maybe you're right. My son came out of the womb slapped me a high five and drove us home. I thought, "Damn that was quick."

The bell has rung for both Bird and Fitz. The wake-up call was the incident that happened last year. Both young men have responded very well to the stupid act they committed last year. Along with Cade, Bird and Fitz will be leaders on the team next year. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap
