texass has a very good defense. I'm much encouraged that we could attack it so effectively and persistently. Clearly the biggest difference in this year's team is our defense. It's amazing how much better than last year these guys are on defense. Our rebounding and defense will win us games that we would have lost if we were depending on offense to win.

Also, we had a 2 day turnaround after the Baylor game. Baylor plays a rather unconventional zone so that probably took a lot of practice time. Two days later, we executed well against a completely different offense.

Good point, MsP!

OU attacked Baylor's zone with an inside-out offense that scored more points than any team the Bears had faced since the season began. Two days later, OU threw a smothering defense at Texas that had them so rattled they shot a dismal 20% from the field in the first half and 30% for the entire game.

That's a sign this team is continuing to make improvements on both ends of the court. It's also a sign of good coaching.

OU also scored more against Texas than any other team in regulation. Stanford had 74 but they got 10 in OT.

Had Texas actually been able to score, OU probably would have scored another 5 to 10 points. OU and Spangler in particular wisely gave up easy shots late in the game to run clock. Nine of Texas' opponents did not break 57 and another two only had 61. Kentucky and Stanford were at 63 and 64 (in regulation).
