As the game went on, Aaliyah Wilson's intensity kept rising. Even after her No. 2 Muskogee Roughers built a 21-point lead against Edmond Santa Fe in the third quarter. Even after learning earlier that she had become the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year for the second straight year.

This is the state tournament.

"We still haven't put four quarters together, so we've got a long way to go," Wilson said.

Wilson finished with 23 points on 9-18 shooting to lead all players.

Muskogee will play in the 4:30 p.m. semifinal Friday against the winner of Westmoore and Midwest City's quarterfinal.

Edmond Santa Fe 10 10 6 20 - 46
Muskogee 14 16 17 11 - 58

ESF: Jones 12, Foy 11, Cooper 10, Brown 6, Johnson 3, Mack 2, Nero 2.
Muskogee: Wilson 23, Mims 12, Ford 11, Westbrook 7, Dailey-Lee 3, Brown 2.

Wilson was easily the best player in the four games. What a mistake to quit recruiting her like OU did. Maybe she is too athletic for Sherri.

I thought so too. Her midrange jumper is hard to defend. She made a behind the back dribble to create spacing and buried a 15' jump shot that was a thing of beauty. She is also a great passer. Add in her rebounding and defense and you see why she is a McD AA. If she improves her 3 pt shooting a little she will have a great all around game.

I watched that game as well when the stream was not messing up. A lot of the first half. Wilson is the real deal! Also Johnson is a terrific passer. I love watching her run the lanes and finding her teammates. Mims is a very athletic PG as well. I expected a better game from ESF. As young as they are I expect to see them back next year.

Yes, SF was vastly over-rated by some on here. One of the weakest teams to make the tournament.

Don't be so jealous that OU decided Wilson was not the player they wanted. If she will work on her game a lot she may even get to start before she finishes at Arkie.

Wow, was that necessary. I think she will start by her soph year and probably would start at OU sooner.

I just don't see a can't miss prospect here... she took a lot of shots to get her 23 points, mostly at the rim... Reminds me a lot of Campbell... I don't think she would have been a good fit at OU. I see her being good defensively, but Dungee can shoot, wh something Players like Wilson can't do, I think teams like Rutgers, Tennessee, UCLA, Cal, all proves that you can have all the athleticism in the world, but if you can't shoot you can be ineffective in college... OU needs a combination of both kids who can run, jump, and shoot the long ball...

I'll eat my words now, after seeing more of Natalie Chou will be a great pick up for Baylor, if giving the chance I'll see Big 12 ROY, she's not the faster kid, but she is a effective shooter...

Also Johnson while she's a decent little point guard, I think she has to much Swag to her game for Sherri's liking, you add that with the fact that she has been said to have attitude problems in the fast = No OU offer...

I just don't get how you can ask was that necessary that sweetest was so sweet just now when you fired shots at Sherri? :ez-roll:

Wilson shoots 47% from the field which is good. What has been off this year is her 3-pt shooting, which is 32%. That isn't bad, just not as good as last year when she shot 47%.

I have seen Johnson numerous times this year. I wouldn't call it "attitude" I would say passion. She does play with a lot of swagg but you can't change the way a player plays. The offers she already has should speak for itself which is another reason why Sheri will shoot herself in the foot with some more instate recruits cause of her "type".

As for Wilson, where do you see Campbell?? That is absolutely insane. They are no where near comparable.

Wilson looks like she would be a terrific #4 and a good #3. She really moves well for her size. We should have got her. She may start as a frosh at Arkansas.

I'm glad someone is looking through the right lens. Wilson is indeed a can't miss prospect that got away. I just don't see how you can let that type of player get away. Especially to Arkansas. Not saying it's a bad program but they obviously had her sold recruiting wise.

Interesting that you are so insistent. When I saw Wilson (last year's last two games in the tournament), Campbell was exactly who I thought of.

You don't like it when people disagree with you. So. We saw it differently.

You know I wasn't gonna post anything concerning this post...however, yes Sweetest OU Girl was very rude talking about Aaliyah Wilson...no one is upset that OU didn't sign her, it's typical Sherri Coale. And y'all think Dungee is better...at wat exactly? She plays no defense, so that makes her great for OU...she's had descent games but overall...no thank, and attitude problem waiting to happen...How does a player have too much swag? And wat is swag? And I'd like to know who is saying that Johnson has this bad attitude? You get parents on here that talk trash about other players, so they're kids look better and some of them play AAU ball together...Everyone on here is so far up Sherri's ass I can't imagine how you even respond to anything...it's pitiful, Sherri is very much overpaid...she wants to get shooters but they can't play defense..wat has Gabbi done this year? Nothing, u can't depend on her at the end of the game cause she don't play defense...when it comes down to a tough team her "shooters" don't show up.

Takes one to know one. When people disagree with you about Sherri you get very defensive. The only way I see you comparing her to Campbell is that they both have a high motor when it comes to rebounding. Other than that their is no comparison. If you are so stuck on her playing Sharane, if I'm not mistaken Sharane was a great player at OU so why the negativity about Wilson? But like I said in my previous post, I bet if Wilson were coming to OU not a single person on this board would have a negative comment about her. You all would be praising her every move like Dungee.

Defensive? I would say that I attack nonsense. Hall of Fame coach. Wannabe posters.

Sharane was a good player. But, if you want to win a national title, I think you need a bigger power forward who can defend taller players and rebound against bigger players. Size was a limitation. Sharane had guard size with a power forward responsibility. Good, but out of position. But, she wasn't really a good enough ball handler to play out front. She did a great job at OU given what she had to work with. I'd love having her her at 6-2.

Wilson---I see the same. I may be wrong. But, I think Big Twelve guards would have eaten her alive. I didn't see her as a good enough ball-handler to play guard in the Big Twelve. It seemed to me that her game required her to get to the rim---against 5-8 guards. There are 6-5 posts in there in the Big Twelve.

It's funny you see that Syb, because she just about destroyed every guard or post tbis summer on the AAU circuit that she will be playing with and against over the years in the big 12 or SEC. So again, your opinion or facts are invalid. You are entitled to your own opinions but if you really think Wilson is overrated than you are going to have a rude awakening. I'm done debating with you right now tho. It gets no where. I see you live in a OU or nothing kind of world.

Can anyone off this board name any kid that played high school basketball in Oklahoma and went on to be a star in college? I think Iciss Tillis who went to Duke was a WBCA All American, but I can’t think of anyone else who has went on to be named an All American in college… The last 2 OK kids I was high on Richa Jackson (Duke) #6 in her class, McDonalds All American had a mediocre college career, and Jessica Washington (UNCheat/Kansas) top 15 in her class, McDonalds All American hasn’t set the college world on fire, but she still has time to improve… Some of you should keep this in mind when you call someone a can’t miss prospect.
Campbell was a hard worker, but she left OU the same player she came in as, only her FTapg went down each year. In Jackson I think Jimmy Dikes will be getting a in your face defender who will have to work on her ball handling and shooting to get the most out of her. Right now I see a bull in a china shop, who gets most of her points by being bigger, faster, stronger, then the avg high school kid… most of us will get to see her play in the burger game, maybe she’ll drain about 3 threes…

Johnson isn't a bad kid, I think the passion and fire she plays with would be good for this team...

Good post, Mac. Unfortunately.

Remember the MWC girl who graduated about the same time as KK, but went out of state? How did she end up doing?
