My Take on Next Years Team

I think I've asked this before but don't remember what the boards opinion was.... Does OU need a dedicated backup pg? I'm trying to think back to good OU teams of the past and remember if that is a team need.

JB can't be the starting 2 and a backup PG, because they will presumably be on floor at same time.

My thinking on my projections is that Lon knows foo can not play in the NBA on the inside and give him the opportunity to develop outside. Also Mabel does not have the feet to guard a guard

I think Williams could be the backup if need be. He has good handles and passing skills. He’s a little too reckless with the ball sometimes, mainly due to Triton’s style of play, but I think he would do in a pinch. Alondes reminds me a little of Isaiah Cousins before he settled into the PG position his junior and senior seasons.

Jalen Hill is not that bad either. High basketball IQ, does pretty much everything well, sound fundamentally. OU is getting two really good players in Williams and Hill!

I actually think it's perfectly feasible to be the starting 2 and the backup point. If you stagger the substitution pattern so that he and Harmon aren't off the floor at the same time, you can do that. If there are a couple minutes a game when they are both resting, it wouldn't be a big problem if you have Williams or another wing play point. Woodard slid to the point a fair amount when Cousins rested his senior year. I'd expect that to be what we do with Bieniemy and Harmon.

Williams was a PG in HS. Now he’s a 6’5” 220 lb wing. I see him as an Odomes replacement more as a SF. There’s plenty of backcourt playing time for Harmon, Bienemy, Reaves, and Williams... and maybe Hill. My Projected starters by the start of conference play are Harmon, Reaves, and Williams.

Watch this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VZq0BfKW9Iw. That’s not a backup PG.

An acquaintance of mine who has seen several OU practices..... he played D1 basketball.... isn’t as impressed with Kuath as some of you are. Unless I misunderstood.....

Why can't Doolittle fill the role Odomes played this season? Defense isn't as good, but offense is better and Doolittle can't possibly shoot worse from 3.

Odomes shot 38% from behind the arc this season and 44% last season.

Looking at the portal Joey Brunk shows available. Visited OU in 2014, 6’11’ 240. Was a 4 star at one time. Any thoughts on him.

Grad transfer with 2 years left. I would take Brunk, he is exactly the type of player we need. Good around the basket, good passer, can shoot a little. Not a demanding player.

Get Brunk and if another ship is available they can get another guard. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Ohio State though joining the coach who recruited him to Butler.

Brunk sounds like he might be a decent backup for Doolittle.

Joey Brunk's 2018-19 season at Butler (16-16; 7-11) ...

> averaged 19 minutes, 7.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game
> played in all 32 games; started 13 games

Brunk would be a fantastic addition and will be eligible immediately.

I doubt Brunk is wanting to transfer and come off the bench.

But maybe he is.

Agreed. Happens all the time.

Yep. Not much to worry about. We’ll be in great shape going into next season with two proven point guards. A third option is mostly an insurance policy in case of an injury.

Good percentage

Unfortunately he was ZERO threat

Averaged 4 makes per season

He averaged 7 makes the past two seasons. His first two years were much worse, but he showed some aptitude from behind the arc the past two years, though he obviously didn't go to the 3-point well all that often.

Brunk would be a better option than polla. However, Lon said we weren’t really looking for a grad transfer so this is all for nothing.

Its message board banter.

Let's not pretend like Odomes was a good shooter... The guy hit 14 3's his entire career..

An OSU buddy of mine told me that Marcus Dove was a great shooter... 100%, in fact. Of course, at the time he was 1-1.

Your implication isn't far from that.
