We made Dowell look like an all-american...

Great comparison. But here is the deal. This was a W. I am not trying to bright side things too much. We did not have a great game on defense. But we WON! I will take that all day.

Do you believe the previous game was a prime example of good defense?

Of course not. We have not played "great" defense all year. But we are winning. That has to count for something. I'd much rather play crap D and win than play crap D and lose. That is all.

Just think a few short years ago when Capel was coach it probably would have been a 10 point loss.

If UTA shoots 3's like it did from 12 minutes in the second half in then the sun belt is in trouble...side note I hated being in a zone for 10 of those 12 minutes

if the refs had used this years rules (instead of last years) in the first half we would have been ahead by double digits at the half

Dowell is good, just not as good as we made him look last night. Still, it's easy to forget that he was a high-major D-1 recruit coming out of high school. He played the point on a Duncanville team that was ranked in the top ten nationally. As I recall, that team was at or near the top of the rankings at one time. OSU wasn't the only school that wanted him.

None of that changes the fact that OU didn't seem to have anyone who was capable of staying in front of him in last night's game. If our defense doesn't improve going forward, we're in for some tough times ahead when this team faces better guards than Reger Dowell. It's like our kids took one step forward on defense in the previous two games, only to take two steps back in last night's game.
