NBA draft

Just an FYI ...

2018 NBA Draft 1st Round Rookie Salary Projections:

According to that link, TY is looking to total about $27 million over his first 4 seasons.

It's ironic, though, that he lost out on potential salary because of the arrangement between the Hawks and the Mavs. According to that chart, if Atlanta had just drafted Trae at third, his contract would be worth an additional $5 mil.

I enjoyed watching Trae's skills - but you'd hafta be a moron to look past Doncic. He's a rare talent and isnt he only 19?

Schroder isn't a great player but he is one of Atlanta's best players. Obviously they are counting on Trae being special. Schroder isn't a nice guy so he won't be welcoming TY to the team.

No chance they can play together. Neither one is big enough to cover anybody with size. So you would have to have 2 small guys on the opposing team for them to be on the court together.

Apparently the Hawks organization was split on which way to go. Some absolutely loved TY and others liked the Euro. Getting a late first rounder in the future helped make the decision.

TY will have that great contract but it is likely less than his shoe deal. Plenty of money for the Young family.

What makes you guys think it's a later first rounder? If I'm not mistaken, it's only top 5 protected. I don't see Dallas escaping the lottery, and they'll need some luck and tanking to stay in the top 5.

Granted, Cuban is the kind of guy that would order a blatant tank. May take a while to dig their way out, though.

Schroder is garbage. Empty stats, plays no defense, isn't a good shooter. He's a locker room cancer. Not only is his game almost exactly like Reggie Jacksons (another bad player on a terrible contract), Schroder even looks a lot like him.

I'd be shocked if they don't salary dump Schroder.

My gut tells me Doncic is going to be a legit star.

Trae is only 19 as well! I think the Hawks got their guy and gained a top 10 pick most likely for next season. I don't think Doncic will be all that much better than Young anyways.

It will be a top 10 pick in all likelihood. The mavs are going to be terrible again next year. Doncic isn’t going to make them a winner all of a sudden.

He is going to be a solid nba player but not a superstar imo. Trae plus another top 5-7 pick is a better deal imo.

It’s a protected pick. If it’s in the Top 5 the Mavs keep it next year.

donic plus barnes plus smith plus mathews plus demarcus cousins makes the mavs a fringe playoff team

I don’t think they will get cousins but if they do then they will probably be fringe playoffs. Without him they will be a dumpster fire again.

Dallas has zero chance of making the playoffs unless Doncic is an all-star level player from day 1.

the west is a bloodbath.

Yep. The only team that was good last year that is poised to take a step back this year is the Thunder if PG leaves. But if PG leaves, he's going to go to LA, and all of a sudden that team is really good.

If I'm Atlanta, I'm much more worried that the Dallas pick ends up in the top 5 than the possibility that Dallas is somehow good and the pick is like 19 or something.

I dont think so

people are overvalueing Doncic's experience. Obviously he has played against better compeition than trae.

But if you put Trae on the team Doncic was on, I bet trae would have put up better numbers
