NCAA MBB Player FMV $375k each/season

Cuonzo Martin - signed an extension, gets a commit and then takes the HC job at Cal all in the past week. How is this fair to the athletes?

BTW, I don't have an issue with that rule because it can be a severe disadvantage to the university having a player in limbo

Someone like Nick Johnson deserves the right to find out if he is ready for the next level. Has done everything right, helped elevate the team back to prominence, but isn't afforded the luxury to explore options.

The schools don't like it because the player has value to the university. This is just another example of how regulations outside of paying players need to change. Put the whole "pay for play" argument aside and there are a bunch of tweaks which need to be made.

meh. somethings are tough. I can't fault the NCAA or universities for wanting to know if a player is going pro or coming back at all. They would be stupid to not have this rule. If the players don't like it, sorry

Title IX governs equal opportunity and prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs receiving federal financial assistance.

If NCAA basketball or football players form a union they will reject the scholarship (financial assistance) and negotiate a percentage of revenue directly generated by their sport. If anybody bothered to read the cnbc article I posted using the NFL/NBA payout ratios that would earn every single FBS football player $178,000 per season and every single NCAA division 1 basketball player $375,000 per season. The revenue is publicly reported. All this talk about programs losing $ is simply fuzzy accounting.

Title IX would become irrelevant.

Isn't the rule in football once you say you are going pro you loose your ability to play in the NCAA? Seems like basketball is being generous. Of course most football players that go pro leave school that last semester.

On the Tennesse Coach. I think this has become a travisty to college sports. If you are under contract I don't think you should be able to leave. Don't sign the 10 year deals if you think you are going to leave. Contract breaking has become a legal artform and needs to end.

Boca ignorantly applies Blake Griffin's value to only Austin Johnson and Terry Evans,

The use of that word is always a tell. It's pretty much only used by the bottom of the gene pool. When at a loss for words and no ability to intelligently debate the dumb redneck will blurt out "man ur ignorant". lol lol White trash.

That "study" is complete bull**** if it comes up with an average FMV of $178,000 per football player but a FMV of $547,000 for Manziel.

Hey rocket scientist, you started the personal insults via PM. Don't get butthurt when the shoe's on the other foot.

I'm gonna guess the consulting business I own is just a shade above any claim to fame you have as it relates to being a "dumb redneck" or "white trash".

I had a feeling this thread might go south eventually. Looks like I was right. If you guys want to keep it open, find a way to make your point minus the insults and the name calling.

Thanks in advance for keeping it civil from this point forward!
