Not at all. But it's not uncommon for the momentum to last one more round. Most Cinderellas face reality in the Sweet 16 round.
Technically not NCAA tournament, but I didn't want to create a new thread. Baylor came back from way down in the second half. They took a 2 point lead with 5 seconds left, and Mississippi State hit a 3 with no time left to stun the Bears.

Not a good look for Izzo. He can't figure out how to beat Boeheim's basic ass zone run by terrible players.
And Syracuse is about to be in the Sweet 16 despite being just awful. Their players are so bad, these coaches are just having their brains implode facing a zone.
Even Jeff Capel had no problem with Boeheim's zone.

I don't think they're world beaters, but Jairus Lyles looks like a genuine star.
Why? Of all the teams to have a grudge against, Izzo and Michigan State seems like a weird one. There are a lot less likable programs, coaches and fanbases out there.

I found their fanbase plenty unlikable when I saw OU play them in Brooklyn a couple of seasons ago; they were smug and arrogant (and Izzo comes across the same way to me). I also think they get more credit from the national media than they deserve. They've had plenty of success, of course, but I think the national media goes over the top in covering them.
Fans think every opposing fanbase is smug and arrogant, and every team gets too much media coverage.

What deeper, more meaningful reason does any fan have (or need) to dislike another program?
And I've attended plenty of games where I didn't come away disliking the other team's fans.
Just seems like a particularly weird program to apply these particular complaints to. They're a blue collar midwestern school, and on the scale of obnoxious fans of quality basketball programs they are about 30 miles behind the Dukes, Kentuckys and Kansas's of the world. And again, they receive far less media coverage than those programs despite having been to 7 final fours under Izzo.

Nationally, they receive every bit as much coverage (and praise for Izzo) as KU. And I don't know how many times you've experienced their fans. I have just the once. That was sufficient. They had the same sense of entitlement and arrogance that KU fans are so famous for.
Fun to watch Roy and UNC get beaten like a red headed step child. Just shows you that no matter how many 5 stars you have if you don’t prepare and don’t bring it you can get beaten. In reality, with all the talent Roy has there is NO way this should happen but it does. He is like Bill at KU and John at Kentucky, they choose their players
