Not how NIL works.
Yeah, you've got it figured out. And NIL money can't be used to coerce or incentivize going to a certain school. It's a good thing these rules are being followed.

I mean, going off the logic of some of these posts, maybe we should offer the job to Kelvin's daughter.
Who knows, maybe 20 years from now, Quannas is a coaching star.
But his resume is not even close to being in the mix to be the head coach at OU if the job comes open in the near future.
All that being said, I doubt Moser goes to Notre Dame.
Before hiring any Kelvin Sampson assistant coach, I would like to know if anyone has a list of what his past assistants did when leading their own programs. I know Jason Rabadeaux and Ray Lopes were absolute disasters, but not sure on the others. and YES, that does matter to me. Coach K and Bill Belichick are legends in their respective sports, but I would be very careful about hiring one of their assistants for a head coaching position due to poor track records. Some coaches are GREAT at DEVELOPING assistant coaches to lead their own programs...others not so much.
If Moser does leave, I think OU should go after Grant McCasland. Has had continued success at North Texas, extensive coaching experience in the Big 12 under Scott Drew, and since he's been in Texas for so long should have recruiting connections.
Make ND pay the buyout and use that to pay North Texas for his buyout.
So Quannas has to wait until he's 62 to be a coaching star?
"If Juwan Howard had never played at Michigan there is no way they would have hired him"..... said someone with no vision a few years back. Now he's had them in Back to Back Sweet 16s.
Lincoln Riley was never a head coach before coming to OU football.... OU.... FOOTBALL. He's doing ok.
Jerome Tang had never been a head coach before getting the job at K-State... How's he doing? He had a lot of years under Scott Drew.
Kelvin Sampson and I agree that Quannas White is a very good coach and a winner.
Sometimes in life you have to take a chance on someone....

So you named a guy who was an NBA All Star and had experience as an NBA assistant and who was such a big name that he would able to appeal to recruits based off his name. Then you named a guy who was widely considered an offensive genius, and who spent time at OU as an assistant before being named head coach. Then you named a guy who was a 19-year assistant at a great program, was the lead assistant, and was known to be a stud recruiter. Which one is Quannas supposed to be?
I would absolutely love to bring Quannas on as our lead assistant. He bleeds crimson, has experience under a HOF coach, and has great recruiting ties in Houston and Louisiana. If we did that, and Porter left in 2-3 years, I think he would be a consideration as Moser's replacement. Bringing him on right now is just asking for more growing pains, and we've had plenty of that already.

where does haith fit in?
I wasn't excited about him as an option before, and I don't think I'd be any more excited this time around.
I don't know who we should chase after if Moser leaves, I haven't given it a ton of thought, and honestly, I don't follow all of college hoops as intently as I used to.
OU needs to figure out who they want to be as a basketball program, and find somebody that fits that identify. That includes recruiting. And remember, we're headed to the SEC. New/different recruiting grounds, and all of the other changes that come with such a move.
We aren't having growing pains. PM has been a head basketball coach longer than some of our players have been alive.
Maybe, just MAYBE, this is who PM is as a coach.
