Need some advice/ideas from you guys

I'm thinking about a new look for the home page (to make it look more sleeker/sporty) for OUHoops and the new football site and was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

The blog template I'm using now is from Wordpress. It's serviceable, but I'm getting bored with it. Is there any other type of blog template company with "newer looking" stuff I need to look into?

I do like how easy the admin is in Wordpress to use. I looked into Squarespace but the admin there just confused me.

I know I could go in and re-design certain aspects of our current home page, but I know nothing about that kind of stuff. If anyone has any ideas or examples of what's out there shoot me some links.

Have you considered just using a different Wordpress theme? I don't think there's a better blogging platform than Wordpress.

Yeah, I've looked at their latest stuff and I'll probably end up staying with what we've got and find someone to make some design changes. I was just wondering if there's anything else out there I'm missing.

Wordpress, Drupal and Joomla are the big 3 CMS's. Wordpress is easiest... but least flexible and powerful. Drupal is complicated and relatively hard to code, but powerful. Joomla is sort of in between, more focused on designers from what I understand.

tumblr is great but I really don't think it's much of a fit for what they're trying to do on the front page of ouhoops.com

I am thinking of starting a tumblr of just nothing but random selections from the comments of selected newsok.com stories. Those are gold, Jerry, gold!

Don't have any ideas about web design, but have you thought about becoming an ESPN affiliate? Especially since ouinsider has given up espn.

Check out http://themeforest.net/ if all you are looking for is a new template/theme. They have decent stuff for pretty cheap.
