This shouldn’t even be a debate. College sports attendance is declining. It’s not going to get any better over time.
 
Even if we have a 9k arena there will still be a ton of empty seats. Tickets being sold is not the problem.

It will be the same people/donors/companies/etc buying the tickets and never using them.
 
Give me 7500 with some donor club level boxes, charge them more and give them their tax right offs.

This isn't even close to being true.

If the team sells more than 10,000 tickets to every game, I don't understand why a 9000 seat arena is preferable. It's possible it could increase revenue if ticket prices went up enough, but generally speaking, more fans creates a better home court advantage for the home team. It seems to me they should only consider a 9000 seat arena if they were selling fewer than 9000 seats per game.

we are going to sell 10k + tickets in 10 of our 15 home games .. 9k in 11 of 15
