If we avoid probation, right the ship, gets some open ships this class, especially with the depth in Texas, could be huge for our program.

Marcus Smart has been on my list for a really long time. Saw him play in a few tournaments over the years... The kid just never stops. Hes amazing. Its great to see him get recognized at #24.

The funny part of this list is a few years back, Reese, Ellis, and Peters were all considered to be the best in this class and no one knew who Nino Jackson was. A few yeasrs can change the perspective of things.

On that note Scout had no idea was who Marcus Smart was till they saw him at the Real Deal this past April and now they have ranked higher than a lot of his rivals in Texas. Still got two more years on these kids too, a lot can happen.

Marcus Smart is like PJ Tucker with a pg mentality. Love the kid. Nino Jackson is a guy we shouldn't even entertain at this point. Only way we get him is if KU is out of ships after signing the top 5 players nationally!

From what I understand and what people think on the Scout national board is that Tarczewski is favoring KU pretty heavily at this point as well. Nino Jackson could be interesting because if KU lands PG Paige, who they are also recruiting, do they still want Jackson? I wouldn't think so. If his obvious favorite takes a pass OU could be a good place for him.

Rivals Top 100 is out as well.
In bold are the rivals rankings

KU is also in strong on and have offered Josiah Turner in the '11 class.
Also in the top 5 for Austin Rivers. Nino Jackson to KU is definitely not a sure thing. If I was OU and OSU I'd still be all over him.

Word is that KU has already offered Jackson...
He would've committed by now then, I've seen multiple articles that quoted or at least wrote in a light that made it seem he was just waiting for a KU offer. He seems to be a legitimate KU fan, so he is their's to lose.

I hadn't heard that. It will be interesting to see if that comes out the next few days. He's already told the world he wants to play at KU so I would think he'd commit soon if that's the case.

He'll go to KU. Any time there is a chance to get a top 100 player nationally out of Oklahoma KU is automatic. We can go back about 9 years. They offered Bookout, Williams, Muenelo, Clarke, Got Henry, Got Giddens, Got Jackson, offered the first Henry, they've been real consistent, and I dont blame them as Oklahoma has better prep basketball than Kansas. Williams did a good job of evaluating Oklahoma talent and Self being a native has taken it to another level.

That being said, I've had the chance to see "Budda" play several times this summer and he's undoubtedly the most talented kid in Oklahoma. However, he's more of a tweener than Willie Warren. Not prolific enough to be a lights out two guard and not seasoned enough to be a pg. Raney is a guy who would translate better into a position than Jackson. jackson's mid range game is killer though and his athleticism is off the charts.

Baylor coming into Oklahoma to recruit is a worry to me. 2012 and 2013 are going to be class that I think the talent in Oklahoma will come back. Jackson, Parker, and Clark are already on high major radar screens. 2013 has a couple of 6'7 kids that will undoubtedly start getting looks and 2012 has two 6'10 kids. OSU has seemed to abandoned looking at instate kids besides offering Raney. So that is one less program to compete with. But Baylor dipping in when OU has recruiting and scholarship issues is not good.

Also, you have to applaud a kid like Jackson being so informed in the recruiting game. Jackson, Raney, and Richardson have been very transparent about their offers unlike other kids from last year who kind of stretched the truth on offers. I wouldn't be suprised if KU has explained the senario in which an offer is extended to Jackson. I don't doubt he'll get a KU offer and I strongly believe he'll commit, unless his stock takes a major hit.

BTW, was just info i wanted to pass along on Nino....

My source is a Juco coach that has solid connections but i dont know how solid his info is...wouldnt stake my life on it, that's for sure...

Said that the KU people really like him, guess he recently showed out up there in either a camp or AAU tourney...

Between Darnell Jackson, the Henry's and Self, I think their is reason for credibility to your source. The relationship between AF and KU is very solid and the more players AF has playing of schools like KU and UK are benefits to that program.

Nino attended KU's elite camp I'm fairly certain.

Yes, he did and I heard he did really well.
I think if it was most years he'd already have an offer but KU is in on a ton of guys in that 2012 class and by many accounts seem to be the leader or very high on the list of top guys like Shabazz Muhammed, Perry Ellis, Tarczewski, Marcus Paige, JP Tokoto. And then they already have Zach Peters as well.
Personally, I'd like to see them take Jackson now because I respect how the kid has taken the bull by the horns in his recruitment. I hope it doesn't backfire and cause KU to kind of slow play him though. Like I said in a normal year he probably has an offer...if he's 2011 I bet he'd have an offer.
The fact that KU has offered the #1 (Rose) and #2 (Paige) PG but not Nino the #5 tells me they may think they are sitting well with those other two. If I was OU and the other schools on his list I'd still be recruiting him hard for that reason. It's surprising though Baylor is his only offer.
