State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013(THIS IS AN OLD THREAD)

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

Stephen Clark for Douglas is supposed to be big time, supposedly a lot of people think he will be the best player in the state next year.

From what I heard Nino Jackson of Ardmore is the best prospect in the state regardless of class. Clark is a really nice prospect but he's not very athletic and he's still pretty small. The good thing is that those things can change quickly as a kid matures.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

Thihs is an intriguing topic for me since I have seen a lot of basketball on the east side and then some crossover during the season. Thoughts below:

2012

Christiansen - definetely a big body and is a good shot blocker

Bittle - Has the body type as well and a nice shot

Crase - good shooter but stoppable when someone decides to cover him

Young - A little soft, Bixby had a 6-6 or 6-8 guy who was more impressive.

Two I didn't see on the list yet are

Maguire of Bishop Kelley(2012) - good defender and dribbler, always around the ball and has a good shot to where he can put up 20 plus on a good night.

Norton from Coweta the coaches son(2013) - still has some growing to do but drives to the basket well.

BK does not have a prospect

I know they didn't play well against your cards, but against the others that are mentioned on here (Bixby, McGuiness and Jenks kids) Maguire guarded Bittle and Crase and more then held his own. There was also a freshman guard who got hurt in football, can't think of his name, that didn't get to play last year. Both will be on the AAU circuit again this year, we'll see if something changes.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

I just didn't see any high level talent on BK... Wilson had 10 pts and 18 rebounds out in Hampton Virginia. The coach is Carl Henry I believe.

Bixby has the parker kid who is a really nice player.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

Many Sooner fans have been asking about possible OU-level prospects from the home state. While we were all spoiled by the vast array of talent that the state produced in the 2009 class, Oklahoma talent has taken a major hit during the 2010 recruiting year. Fortunately, the future looks bright in the Sooner State.

Below are a list of some potential mid to high major guys coming out of the state for 2011, 2012, and 2013. Thanks to Coach Pete Abbott and Coach Stu Hendricks for helping to make this list. I am sure we will be able to add to it over time.

2011 - Dominique Raney - Putnam City, 6-4, SG
2011 - Josh Richardson - Edmond Sante Fe, 6-5, Wing
2011 - Tray Jordana - OKC Southeast, 6-6, Wing/SF
2011 - Marquise Buxton-Hill - Douglass, 6-8, PF/Center
2011 - Devonte Smith - Douglass, 5-10, PG
2011 - Ronquis Lewis - Midwest City, 6-5, Wing
2011 - Kentrell Brothers - Guthrie, 6-2, Wing
2011 - Brandon Lucas - Southmoore, 6-4, G/Wing
2011 - Ryan Spangler - Bridge Creek, 6-7, PF
2011 - Dominique Manuel - Douglass, 6-0, CG
2011 - Drew Wilson - East Central, 6-5, Wing/SF
2011 - Steve Hamilton - Edison, 6-6, SF
2011 - Dorrian Williams - Douglass, 6-2 , G

2012 - Nino Jackson - NW Classen, 6-1, CG
2012 - Tre Payne - Putnam City, 6-3, SG
2012 - Matt Christiansen - Bishop Mcguinness, 6-8, C
2012 - Aaron Anderson - Edmond Santa Fe, 6-3, SG
2012 - Garrett Hermanski - Edmond Deer Creek, 6-4, Wing/SF
2012 - Sean Young - Bixby, 6-10, C
2012 - Que Paris - Lawton Mac, 6-3, SG
2012 - Jacob Bullard - Vinita, 6-4, Wing
2012 - Brandon Brantley - Tulsa Washington, 5-11, PG
2012 - Cody Crase - Jenks, 6-0, PG
2012 - Michael Onuoha - Edmond Sante Fe, 6-7, PF
2012 - Jacob Bittle - Bixby, 6-2, PG

2013 - Stevie "Scooter" Clark - Douglass, 5-9, PG
2013 - Tanner Tepe - Piedmont, 6-2, SG
2013 - Shaquille Morris - Edmond Deer Creek, 6-7, PF
2013 - Juwan Parker - Tulsa Washington, 6-5, Wing
2013 - Zach Rodgers - Holland Hall, 6-5, PF

Nino Jackson is going to be a possible big time player. Hopefully he will grow a little more. Scooter and Parker are two names to stow away in the memory bank.

Edit: Added a few more 2012 kids including some more from the eastern side of the state.

Interesting to note that Josh Richardson is playing with the Alabama Celtics 2011 team this week. I don't know if he's with AF and just playing at real deal as they don't have a solid AAU team in the 16U ranks from Oklahoma. Also Dominique Raney is not playing with AF and Kentrell Brothers is not playing basketball this summer.

the Santa Fe kid is a nice player i dont believe he is a high major player though.

DM,
“They’re not only getting an outstanding, sky-is-the-limit basketball player, but they’re getting a fine young man in Tyler Neal,” --Tim Stogsdill

I love Tyler Neal, with that being said, his coached got canned for playing ineligible players... So maybe its time for a new quote!!! Just giving you a hard time!

I was wondering what happened! Thanks for the heads up. Still a good quote though.

Very good quote... The issue with Stogs, is now whether he knew or not? If he got fired then I'm guessing he knew more than he was suppose to... :OU-logo:

I came away impressed this weekend by Clark and Jackson ofcourse. Clark is like a Keiton Page clone and Jackson reminds me of Randy Culpepper, the guard from Utep. I liked Andrew Wilson of East Central and Ryan Spangler of Deer Creek. Those are probably the two best bigs in the state. Adrion Williams of Piedmont is also pretty good. Shaq Morris has the most potential of anyone though. He's real raw, but has a good upside. I doubt he'll be in Deer Creek long.

spangler is from bridge creek.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

spangler is from bridge creek.

I liked him. He's real physical, gets up and contests shots and is a dirty player. Drew Wilson is really good fundamentally. Good footwork in the post. Not the most athletic guy, but got up and threw a couple down. There were two twins from Douglas that were about 6'7 to 6'8 that were active and athletic though on the thin side. AF is a team of about 9 mid major guys and 3 high major possibilities.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

Wilson is athelic, however his feet are not as quick as some would like.

That kid can jump though. Had some of the best dunks I saw this year on the East Side.

Re: State of Oklahoma Prospects 2011, 2012, 2013

I think a lot more of the Rainey kid than most I think. I really think he is going to be an impact D-1 kid. I hope OU recruits him. I just don't see any real weaknesses in the kid. If we aren't recruiting him, I wonder what the issues are? For a guard, he is tall, athletic, good handles and can shoot. He is a volumn shooter, but what really good high school players aren't. They are usually their teams best player and are encouraged to take the most shots.

By the way, I think the early signing date next year is critical. We might struggle some due to inexperiance next year and this could bring out the boo birds and media critizims of Capel and that could hurt us in the late signing date. So if we can sign a couple good kids early, this could help create positive vibes or hope that he can and will turn the program around.
