New softball thread

KU's catcher would appear to have a strong arm to second base. That's at least a couple of put-outs that she has made to cut down OU runners attempting to steal...

Second inning
Wodach flies to center
Nicole swinging strikeout
Lauren walks
Shelby grounds to second
3-0

Swinging strikeout
Grounder to second
Called strikeout
3-0 after one

I don't remember OU stealing many bases off of Big Twelve quality catchers this year. We don't have Turang type speed this year.

Fourth inning
Lauren strikes out, rise?
Shelby walks
Error on second baseman as Parker reaches. Shelby to second. They rule it as a base hit, tough hop
Erin singles to center, Shelby scores
Another mound conference. I wonder if they are trying to get the game called by delays?
Kady doubles to left center, Paige scores, Erin to third.
Casey pops to third
Ellis doubles off the top of the left center field wall. Erin and Kady score.
Pitching change. Beth Wilson, SR, Canton, IL, 2-1 7.47 only pitched 15 innings
illlegal pitch puts ELlis at third.
Wodach flies to right
8-0

That was Ellis' 13th double, leading the team by two over Shelby.

Shelby now pitching. Vest at SS, replacing Wodach.
Grounder off Casey's glove, error. Now, they call it a hit. (should have been an error).
Strikeout swinging
Double play, short to second to first.
8-0, but KU now has a hit.

Thankfully, looks like it will be run-rule. It's 10-0 with bases loaded and one out in top of 5th. Paige only had to pitch 3 innings as Shelby took over in the 4th.

I love the KU announcer saying "OU showing KU what their REALLY made of this afternoon!"

It's now 12-0, still one out in the top of the 5th.

Well, I was all set to pronounce shutout, no-hit and run-rule to the Chickenhawks, but McGinley broke up the no-hitter. :(

- - the second McGinley sister, that is.

We still got the shutout and the run-rule, though...

Well, we blew that game. Wasted opportunities. And even a great coach like Gasso can screw up, and she did, big time... probably cost us a run, perhaps a win.

You need to be careful, someone on here will accuse you of thinking you know more about how to coach than Patty does.

Patty is a GREAT coach. But even great coaches can screw up occasionally. No one is immune.

You cannot get away with that thinking when it comes to Sherri! If you dare say something like that about her, you will be instantly classified as a hater and a know-it-all for thinking you know more about basketball than she does. Trust me, there are 3 or 4 who will be all over you! :ez-laugh:

But I was not referring to Sherri, Norm... I was speaking of Patty.

And I don't care if it was Lombardi or Geno, the point remains valid. Anyone can (and does) screw up from time to time.

And I know that you are just funning with me to raise the point about sacred cows (excuse the metaphor)...
