Next year’s post?

Yes I believe so. The rest of the observation is fair. I've seen her initiate the fast break, but not someone I would want dribbling too much. She has a nice touch and someone that I do see potential from, but not immediately.

I agree with Zac...big kids are hard to come by. This kid has played club ball and if she was up to charli Collier who can make an immediate impact the entire world would know it. But the truth is there are very very few of these kids and Texas and Baylor who have been top 5 programs seem to keep getting...it’s hard to go out on a limb and say i wanna build another program as a big! Because it takes good guards to get you the ball. Texas rebuilt with McCarty and Atkins the bigs came later or the good ones. Most bigs need time to develop i don’t think anyone would argue the development of Vivi but it took time. OU didn’t recruit bad but it took a chance in a top post in Mulkey that flat out didn’t want to work. It is unfortunate but that is the predicament we are in. We will have to play a bit undersized but the key to this new team will be relentless defense. The key players for Texas are McCarty Atkins and Higgs. Yes their post are good but they got a good transfer in white and two good juco post in twins. I agree and hope their is a juco or foreign or grad transfer post out there!

Outside of White Texas really has been good at keeping kids home, the last down year for Texas prospects was 2013... that year Texas didn’t have a strong class, bring in Boothe this year was a big step, but I’m waiting to see how Aston will do with the 2019 class not being as strong as normal within the state. Also sometimes you will see a post player look to lead there own path, Ga Tech is bring in a big time post player and they are not what I would call an elite program... I think Mulkey leaving the program set us back for 2018 and we got in on a few elite players like Shakira Austin but it was to late. There are a few good post in the 2019 class, but it looks like Sherri is looking for another wing instead of a true post.

I think the lesson of 2002 was that we needed a post. UConn dominated the interior. Well, we got a couple of them in Courtney and Abi, although Abi took a lot of time to come around. But, we discovered that we needed shooters to take the pressure off the post.

I thought our biggest problem this year (and last) was that we were down in shooting. Peyton wasn't the pure shooter that we had thought. Maddie was our best shooter, but inconsistent. Although Gabbi may have been the type of shooter who hit 52 straight threes in practice as Sherri said, she was never that good in a game. She could shoot free throws. Ana showed the signs, but needs a year.

I really hate losing Vivi and Maddie. But, we are beginning to put our shooting corps back into action. Shaina doesn't hit the outside shot (yet? wonder if she ever will?), but Ana can shoot from anywhere. She has the confidence and stroke of a shooter.

I don't care how slow you are, if you can shoot 57% from three and over 90% from the line, you can be valuable. I want to see Taylor. From what Charli Collier says, Madison is a " beast." I get the impression that she is a big, physical guard who can drive and rebound. Tatum can score. Murcer is a scorer in highschool.

We are bringing in scorers. I find it interesting that one of the first that we have known about is Liz Scott, a highly-rated wing, scorer excellence.

I say this because while I would love to have another Courtney, I want to rebuilt our ability to score. Wooden won with posts who hardly ever scored (Alcindor and Walton, notwithstanding). I would like to have at least a rebounding and defensive presence inside, but I am more interested in getting the ball into the basket. Posts really can't do that if they have four people guarding the rim because nobody can shoot. I'd rather have the post get a putback here or there, but rebound and intimidate. I was content with what Mulkey could have been just by standing there, maybe turning around to grab a rebound.

I notice Williston is left-handed. Some like that for shot-blockers. I just hope she has the ability and wants to learn. Vivi did. Vivi was good enough if we had a team around her. If Vivi had played well against TCU, she and Maddie would have been enough, especially with Shaina. Needed and interior to go with the exterior in that one game.

I just hope that between Nydia, EJ, and Aspen, we get enough of a presence to keep some sense of interior as the scoring corps develop. Unless we get a really good one, I'd rather recruit a great wing and accept an adequate post.

Mobility is probably below average to average. Could be better with a college strength and conditioning program. She has very good hands from what I have seen with a good basketball IQ. Defensively it is hard to tell when I have only seen her play against smaller schools that don't have the athletes she would see in the Big 12. For those that plan on watching her this weekend, don't be surprised if you come away unimpressed. This year it is pretty much a one man show for Broken Bow and it is hard when that one man is the center. The best player on the floor on Thursday will probably the Collins girl from Muldrow. 6'2 Sophomore athlete with offers from OKST, Ohio St, Louisville, and Arkansas.

Thanks for the information Zacj, Now I know what to look for while watching Aspen. Looking at the rosters, she obviously won't be hard to find. Hope I see a lot of potential in her.

I am kind of in agreement that I would love to see a couple of wings to go with the guards we are developing. There just aren't that many quality posts to go around. If we could just find some dynamite rebounders, that could negate the lack of posts. 6'1 to 6'3 would be nice.

Well, let's hope. I like that she can make that 3-5-foot jump shot regularly. Seems active on the boards.

I wish more teams did highlights of kids playing club ball...at least to see another division 1 kid guarding them etc

Amihere re-tweets quite a few posts about Pellington. Has a video were a girl throws the basketball off the board and she dunks it with one hand.

If Amihere were to come here, I wonder what it would mean to a post position. Amihere is a 6-2 leaper, more of a power forward. She reminds me a bit of Nydia Lampkin who is about the same size and style. If you get a couple of posts in here who are not 6-5, but who are very athletic and can fly, do you play them at post? Do you get a standstill, back to the basket post and use them to fly, a trailer on the fast break? I get the impression that they can run as well as Shaina.

I just watched what they said was the Texas 6A finals. Plano beat Judson by four, 62-58, Saturday night. The best known player was Plano's Jordan Merritt. I thought Katie Ferrell did most of what kept Plano in the game and caught them back up after they were down ten. Davenport also was key for Plano.

I just watched the last of the Carl Albert/Booker T. Washington men's game. High School basketball needs a shot clock.

And I didn't realize Conley Phipps was coaching at BTW.

I saw something two or three months ago that said she had followed her sister. But, I had never heard of it, nor did I know if that was a final destination. I still know nothing about it. They seem to play small religious colleges. No seniors on the team.
